This contract hurts teams with players that have arbitration rights in this flat cap. Coming off a 0.5 ppg year and getting almost $3 mill.
Something that guys like Virtanen and do will be using.
Bad news for any teams with RFAs this off-season IMO. Good contract for Fabbri and the Wings have cap space, but only 2 years at that price is kinda underwhelming.
...so?
Maybe GMs should start being smarter about throwing around money

Not that it matters for Detroit, but doesn’t this AAV seem pretty high?
No question. Detroit's in great shape cap wise. Kind of sets a bad precedent for future RFAs though. Fabbri didn't do much to earn a decent payday.
f*** em.

Kasperi Kapenen? What exactly is the precedent that gets him 3M? That seems extremely high based on past contracts with better performance.
Serious question, does this put Mikheyev in that $2.5 range?
39 total games? I guess we will see.
what it does do is make kerfoot/kappy/AJ value contracts that are easily moved if needed
Kappy I agree, AJ and Kerfoot I don't question that they can be moved, I just don't think there would be huge value in return. Kappy is younger, signed for less and has a very specialized set of skills with his speed and ability to PK. If you can get a mid round pick (or 2) and no salary back for AJ or Kerfoot I think you pull the trigger.39 total games? I guess we will see.

26 years old. career ppg 0.51. 3.5 million per year for the next 3 years
24 years old. career ppg 0.45. 3.2 million per year for the next 2 years
25 years old. career ppg 0.536. 3.4 million per year for the next 2 years
24 years old. career ppg 0.49. 2.95 million per year for the next 2 years.
The idea that Fabbri is vastly overpaid doesn't jive with reality.
and this year. Kappy makes 2.1 x 2.
AJ and kerfoot make 2.6 x 3
they drop down ton like 1.75 x 2
in real money
DET just made a bunch of teams unable to afford their RFA's.
Yzerman knows exactly what he is doing.
What?
