It's rare trades are win/win but this is one of those.
Did you watch our defense last year? A literal warmed over ham sandwich would likely be an upgrade.
Thsts debstesblr....assuming the Rsngers draft Lafreniere...then Buch is liked a 3rd liner .
In looking at their cap situation they could trade buch for a 2nd instead of giving up a 2nd to unload Stasl unless they are planning something else.
Clear win for stevie Y
2nd round picks can be like gold Bruins got players like studnicka and carlo there. Absolute great trade for wings.I mean, nobody will be able to convince me this was a bad move for the Rangers lol
I am elated
They're planning on having a RW on a team full of LW players...Thsts debstesblr....assuming the Rsngers draft Lafreniere...then Buch is liked a 3rd liner .

I really don’t see a reason why any team should be unhappy or need a “winner/loser” set up.Clear win for stevie Y
What's a "dynasty" these days? I wouldn't get too carried away. The nhl ,as a whole, is rapidly becoming much more competetiveThe Rangers will be the next Dynasty. Locked and loaded at every position.
That poster disses anything the Rangers do.I really don’t see a reason why any team should be unhappy or need a “winner/loser” set up.
trade was mutually beneficial
Not sure how you can say that when there's no way to know what the Rangers will do with the capspace and roster flexibility they gain by making this move.2nd round picks can be like gold Bruins got players like studnicka and carlo there. Absolute great trade for wings.
If we gave them a 7th instead of a 2nd I guarantee you he’d say the same exact thing. Not sure how you can say that when there's no way to know what the Rangers will do with the capspace and roster flexibility they gain by making this move.
Thing that nobody is mentioning is that not only did the Wings get the second but they can Flip Staal at the TDL with as much retention as they possibly can. Although Staal may be quasi done having a healthy veteran body on a D Corp for a run is worth something.
Marleau was traded and then Bought out. Hence the overpayment of the first.
2nd round picks are dangerous cause some good 1st round talents falls through and get scooped in the second round. Example rangers own Derek Stephan .If we gave them a 7th instead of a 2nd I guarantee you he’d say the same exact thing.
Yeah, Hall can play on the 4th line behind Panarin, Kreider, Lafreniere and Pietrangelo can play on the Right side behind Trouba, Fox, DeAngelo and Lundkvist when he gets here.Hall or Pietro to New York?

Don't forget Hornqvist! And sometimes teams find dangerous players in the 7th round - like Zetterberg + Lundqvist.
So maybe Detroit should have settled for a 7th instead of 2nd!
Sometimes, the 5th overall pick has a better career than the 1st overall pick, so maybe the Rangers should swap picks with Ottawa!
You just can’t help yourself when it comes to the Rangers, can you? No matter what they do, it’s bad, lol...
If they wind up keeping him. My guess is the deal was made with the understanding that Detroit buy Staal out and let Staal have a say in his next destination.Could probably retain 50% at the deadline and get another pick. Genius move by Stevie Y.
Not according to Yzerman’s presser...he plans on keeping himIf they wind up keeping him. My guess is the deal was made with the understanding that Detroit buy Staal out and let Staal have a say in his next destination.
