He certainly made Detroit a lot more interesting last year, almost dragged them kicking and screaming into the playoffs. A full year with him just might get them there, if they can fix the defense and goaltending

Did it bother Hawks fans when he signed with Detroit? Has the rivalry been neutered by the Wings moving to the Eastern Conference? It's almost like that brief stint Bryan Trottier did as head coach for the Rangers of all teams. Or am I just stuck in the past?

I'm not surprised and a pretty good low risk high reward for Detroit. 47 points in 50 games, he can still post good numbers

Thinking why he didn't go for the multi year route have to think he could have gotten one.

Probably wants to keep things open to return and retire a Blackhawk

Yeah this isn't true. He actually disappeared a bit down the stretch. Raymond was the guy who almost dragged the wings into the playoffs

Kicking the cap can down the road is what contenders with closing windows do. Not teams that haven't even seen their window open...
Nah, gonna have to strongly disagree with you on this one. Cap goes up next year and a lot of contracts for us come off the books. The extra cap he will get next Year won’t matter. Fabbri, and Husso contracts are both gonna be gone, and we might even buy out copp and save like 3 mill. Cap space for us will be easy next year.

It basically cock-blocks us from making use of next season's cap increase. At some point we need another legitimate top 6 piece to compete with. Kane isn't it. Why jam up the cap with him?
Entertainment?

Last season was the 1st in several where we fans had something to look forward to.

If signing Kane means we don’t re-sign Veleno…We’ll Joe it was nice knowing ya.

team had a better record with kane out of lineup. dont blame kane tho, think hes a net positive, just team failed at times to adjust to having an offense only type player.
