Holland did it to himself with that Yamo RFA signing last August. Hard to see the upside when you shoot yourself in the foot.Yamamoto had negative value and Kostin was leaving. How can you get any value out of those assets?
Losing Kostin who likely couldn’t fit in cap wise is probably best case scenario to remove Yamamoto’s cap.
Yamamoto did have some promising attributes, you can’t deny that the D-R-Y line had some successHolland did it to himself with that Yamo RFA signing last August. Hard to see the upside when you shoot yourself in the foot.
It's more shocking it didn't cost EDM anything, considering NYI had to pay a 2nd to dump Bailey at $5M. Obviously the $2m makes a huge dif to GMs, and that Yamamoto is younger and may have some upside.Wow, somewhat shocked they couldn’t get anything at all for Yams.
Yet 11 months later he has negative value.Yamamoto did have some promising attributes, you can’t deny that the D-R-Y line had some success
I don’t really disagree. I’m disappointed to see him go. But I feel like Holloway should be able to take his spot for cheaper and if he can’t I think they’re in trouble anyways.Even at an increase to 1.75 to 2 million with some increased minutes, Kostin is a prototypical bottom 6 player you want on your team.

Janmark and Ryan were pretty solid for them too. Does suck to see him as the casualty to dump Yamo though.Kostin was their best bottom 6 forward last year.![]()

I don’t think it was a terrible price to pay to dump Yamo’s full hit. Having to dump the contract at all is something of an issue in and of itself, but I guess that’s a different discussion.
Lucic and Okposo deals are finally upThere's too too much dead cap space in the league and its bad for the game. Just saying.
I thought they weren't qualifying him? ala WSH Samsonov styleIt cost them the signing rights to RFA Klim Kostin.
This shouldn't be allowed.
Kostin being used as payment for Yamamoto's contract or neither have any value.
Yet 11 months later he has negative value.
Yzerman shouldn't be allowed to dumpster dive behind other team's arenas. It's embarrassing and unhygienic. Why? Trades?
Yamo is extremely frustrating as a player. Legitimately, he does mostly nothing. Just skates around and misses the net (seemingly) every time.Oil fans been arguing Yamo has value, mains arguing he has negative value.
Oilers dump Yamo by attaching Kostin, and now it's poor asset management because they should have gotten value for Yamo.
Figure your shit out, folks.
Word is he's looking for a decent raise and is leveraging the KHL to get it.
As @Yukon Joe said:I mean, he went for free, so that doesn't seem like negative.
Or do you think -0 is a thing?
