After spending most of his NHL career with the Blue Jackets and Rangers, Derick Brassard has bounced around a ton in recent years, having played for eight (!) different teams since 2018.

He turns 35 in september and while he's obviously past his prime, I hope he reaches the 1000 games milestone before his career runs out of track. For this to happen, he must sign a contract somewhere and play 49 games. Will it happen? What do you think?

Can he still kill penalties and win face offs? Habs could use an experienced depth center for the 4th line at nhl minimum if they deal Dvorak and Evans moves to the 3rd line.

maybe as a PTO somewhere.

this will have to wait till after the dust settles with player moves.
buffalo is a possibility if they want to bring in a 4C. Right now they are playing in the sweetener market of taking on someone else’s player who the team needs to unload.

I think if he has desire to play more - and I believe he does - he is definitely still an NHL level forward and I think if he's willing to take around $850K he would probably have a handful of teams to pick from once all the dominoes have fallen and the market is fully settled.

I'd take him on the Jets on a one-year deal.

But either way, whomever signs him is getting a solid pick-up. But I think the teams that should consider signing him are Calgary, Washington, Buffalo, Montreal, Carolina or Detroit. I mean worst-case he's traded again.

But if Vegas can get him for cheap, they should consider it.

I just want to see a player break the record once held by Mike Sillinger.

The debate should be who has fallen off more, brassard or PK Subban.......
Brassard was never at the heights of PK both in terms of actual play or stardom in the eyes of the fans. PK fell more imo, and more disappointing because dmen can generally keep it going into their mid-30s

Eh, not really...

Brassards peak he was a very good 2C who played at a higher level in the playoffs. He then aged into a bottom 6 player. Now at 35 he’s cheap depth.

Subban played at a Norris caliber level and was viewed as star. Brassard was never at his level.

If you want to compare Subban to a forward, Tyler Seguin comes to mind.

He's a smart enough player that if he wants to, he can easily find a place to keep playing for cheap $$$. Just really comes down whether he wants to or not probably.

I didn't say how was better originally, I asked who's game fell off worse 🤔

Brassard was actually decent for the Flyers last year. I suppose being decent on the Flyers wasn't a hard thing considering how bad the team was. But I think he would be a solid depth player on a team that needs veteran presence and not much cap space.
