Derek Sanderson Interview

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.

Because it's my understanding that you have season's tix, and you mentioned elsewhere that you really liked the "Thank You Fans" video/music from last year. If you recall, I mentioned in the same thread that I was also deeply moved by the B's use of Phillip Phillip's "Home" for the short, classy video shown before that game.

Assuming you were there, I was just curious as to your reaction.

Oh no, I have a 10-game ticket plan. I work nights and I live 90 miles from Boston, so season tickets are impossible for me. Ten games is pretty much my limit. And I didn't even get to go to my last game this year (March 17) as I had to work overtime. :(

I saw the "thank you fans" video on the Bruins website. I know nada about music these days (I can't tell Lady Gaga from Lady Godiva) but I liked the song a lot. It was very haunting,

Just finished watching the show and while Derek had some interesting things to say, watching McCarver hosting the show was pretty painful. McCarver was just so dull and wooden that I'm surprised Derek didn't start drinking again out of boredom. I guess I never noticed just how bad McCarver was before ( I knew he was bad but not to this level ) as most of my concentration was focused on the actual baseball action instead of his commentary.

That was probably a defensive mechanism, like a lizard that loses its tail when a predator grabs it.

Three McCarverisms that have unfortunately burned into my brain, all from the 2004 postseason:

"A walk's as good as a home run."

"An MLB batter will seldom swing and miss at a pitch in the strike zone."

And above all, his reference to Derek Jeter's "calm eyes."
