Player Discussion Derek Forbort

His mobility has improved (spoiler: it's still not great) but he doesn't have a lick of offense in his body. I wonder if he was nursing the injury for a while. Good on the PK and relatively non-offensive in his minutes, which is big for a depth guy.

He's always been a solid smart player and apparently a popular teammate

Just doesn't have very good wheels is getting old and has had so many injuries. I really thought he was cooked he looked so slow and rigid to start.

He's made some strides and looks useful right now. Doesn't have a lick of offence but he's pretty reliable and makes good decisions
Hope he can stay healthy until we get a top4 solution at minimum. He's a better option than Juulsen and Desharnais that's for certain

Winning fixes everything. Last year Juulsen was horrible in losing streaks and super steady in winning streaks. A lot of it seems to be trying to not make mistakes vs trying to make a play. Forbert was actually bad for most of the year including super recently. Hopefully from here he can keep it up.

Have more faith in him than Desharnais though.... which isn't saying much. He too could turn it around.

Forbort is guy who shocks me.......a 'steady eddy' on the blueline, who's actually playing better than Soucy right now. And he's earning the league minimum.

Not sure how long it can last--but at his salary, he's a bargain.

Only two years ago he was part of a team that lost only 12 times in regulation all year. He was their go to PK guy and played solid 3rd pair minutes with Clifton. Average almost 18 minutes a game. Lots of D zone starts etc. Never much offense.
