I just finished listening to this radio piece on the kings current situation (I know late to the party, it was done before the rags game) It mentioned that Forbort might get a call up before the end of the season as he is performing ahead of peoples expectations at the start of the season.

Does anyone that watches the Monarchs agree with that assessment? (I haven't followed them)

When would be the right time to give him a taster? I would have thought it would make sense to get him a couple of games earlier than later when we are really chasing points (especially considering our D has struggled through suspension and injury. Thoughts?

Would love to get him in a few games this season. He can't be worse than Schultz and or McBain.

Plot twist: he comes in and is worse than Schultz or McBain.

Then takes off his jersey and mask to reveal a cackling Randy Jones, fires a puck into our own net

I agree with the assessment, he's playing very well. Although I don't thing there is any huge need to call him up. I think there is too many issues with the defense right now to put another rookie in there (McNabb being the other).

I know he's a 1st rounder and people want to see him play. Maybe it's cause I see him play all the time, so I don't have this huge urge to see him play. I think he'll definitely get a call up next season though. Maybe even making the team at some point.

I agree, anyone hoping Forbort is going to come in on an NHL roster, and set the world on fire, or stabilize the Kings is dreaming.

Forbort is going to struggle just like McNabb/Muzzin did/do.

We won't know how bad or if until we actually see it! Forbort skates well for a big guy, and seems athletic! So, for him, I think it ends up being how does his hockey hold up!!

Probably not a good idea to call up Forbort until the Kings play stabilizes one way or the other. Especially if Forbort is finally playing the way we hoped he would play from the get go. Let his current progression continue in Manchester. In Dean we trust.

The Manchester situation with the team being so far away demonstrates the disadvantage several teams have had with their AHL affiliate so far away! Many other teams, where let's say the big club is only two hours away or so, will take a player like Schultz or McBain, and just have them sit in the press box! They're almost there in case someone gets hurt in warmups, and they have enough NHL experience so they don't feel like they need them to play a bunch of minutes in the minors. Then they send up and down all the time say two guys that don't have to clear waivers! They can do it almost daily if they want! And, they don't need to be the same position! So, if the Monarchs were in Ontario, you probably would have already seen both Shore and Forbort play some minutes! Then, when they don't play, they don't get scratched, they're just sent back down again. Almost impossible to manage all this though when the minor team is thousands of miles away.

Kings could have brought up Forbort instead of Schultz, they chose to go the other way. Which says something about how they feel about Forbort right now. I still think the kid has a future, but the Kings already have 3 DMen who are over their head on the big boys roster, adding one more wont help.

Given how much Sutter loves Veterans and doesn't really trust rookies, I don't see him green lighting Forbert over Schultz, esp given the situation and the amount of stress involved, due to injuries, arrests and instability on be blue line

Training camp is the best place for a young rookie D to start and if they feel Forbert has a future here, that's when he get called up.

I don't see the harm in giving him a cup of coffee. No one is expecting him to come up and light the world up--he just needs a taste of the action to go back and work on stuff. I.e. Martinez. Most of these guys don't stick on their first try, that's not an indictment of their abilities.

I'd like to see him get a couple of games, it gives him a chance to test himself, and its also a reward for his hard work. If you get too many last minute, fill in signings like Mcbain, it must dishearten the Manchester boys

No, the Manchester guy's understand the process. The Kings are no longer a development black hole.

All prospects understand this, and respect it. Muzzin picked the Kings over other teams, due to Manchester development record under Lombardi.

There'll be guys there that think they're near to ready and want a shot, then DL signs Mcbain, (who has no previous work with the team) effectively jumping them in the depth chart, that would piss me off, regardless of the understanding of processes and ****.

Its like the typical disappointment you hear of with prospects that get their ten games in the big show, then suck ass when they get sent back to the minors. Its human nature.

Prospects with that attitude don't stay LA Kings. See Linden Vey/Bud Holloway....

Also to a small effect Brandon Kozun, who asked to be traded. Lombardi did him solid, and traded him.

Look at someone like Gravel, he doesn't even have a contract, and is an UFA. He could sign with any NHL team right now, but remains a Monarch.

Slava spent three Full seasons in Manchester, getting passed over ETC. He did just fine.

I don't blame Kozun for asking for a deal. He more than paid his dues and never got a sniff of the NHL. 264 AHL games and it seemed very doubtful a recall was ever coming. He asked for a trade without causing a scene and played hard to the end as well.

I don't think its that big of a deal giving a near ready prospect a couple of games.

Vey has stuck and Kozun had a taster, which might not have happened here, good luck to them. Who knows what DL has said to Gravel, he may have promised him a contract when things clear up financially.

Kozun displayed his frustration the correct way. Vey/Holloway did not.

There is nothing wrong with giving Forbort a couple of games(in my opinion), Kings brass right now, feels otherwise.
