Maybe a misspell? Some over on the NFL reddit are saying that he couldn't do that as he wouldn't pass a physical. Haven't looked into the specifics.
He was scratched for the final month of the season. And all players do a year end physical to determine whether their contract for 2025 is guaranteed as most of the vets have years 2-3 guaranteed for injury, so if they can't pass the physical at year end, they can't be cut.
Sounds like for him to play again, he'd need to have surgery and do a long rehab. If he opts to retire, that he can rehab it enough to do things that he wants. Play golf, baseball, etc. Lift some stuff around the house, etc. Possibly some limits, but with $200 mill in career earnings, anything too heavy, he should hire people to move.
His wife posted a video of his first day of retirement. He seems content playing with his 3 sons and 1 daughter. Running and throwing a baseball before heading out for golf.
