B2B wins is nice

Woll was good, 3rd line was good (mostly)

Didn’t like the core 4’s game, but we won so I won’t be too harsh.

I liked Steeves game, he created a few chances from the fourth line.
Willie looked good I’ll say that still needs to be better though ffs he needs to play center its the position best suited for his skillset like f****** light bulb go on already

The Domi line was good. Woll solid. Tanev and McCabe solid again. I liked the 4th line. Glad to be back in first.

BUT

There were some concerns. PP 1 completely ineffective. Marner and Matthews have the Nations hangover. Tavares with his second terrible game.

AND

What are we going to do about Rielly? What was he doing on that 2nd Chicago goal? Why Berube had the Domi line with Rielly on to close out the period I don’t understand. If it was Keefe he would have been vilified. Be smarter in games that matter please.

I would say 85% of the pieces are there. For a strong playoff run.

They need a couple of deals and a rework of the top 3 lines. It needs to be spread out.

Agree but how Tavares with marner Matthews with knies Willy with mcmann? Good start

Nice to see a win... Chicago's been brutal to the Leafs, add the travel on a back to back and it seemed like a letdown game.

Great start for the depth guys coming off the break.

Relax

OMG I just watched the highlights and how in the world did they count our last goal?? Yikes. Was video replay drunk? Unbelievable.
No you just need to go read the rule.

That was a botto, 6 win vs a bottom tier team. Is it too early for the Bedard is not him discussion? Probably.

Well done. Sketchy start, but once they got going they were fine. PP1 is gross though.

Haven't played near as good as they can, and two wins. Woll solid.

I like it.

I think it's safe to say Bedard ain't no McDavid.

The hype around that kid was something else. Seeing him play he's obviously a very good player. And he's still young so lots of time to get even better.

But he's looking more Taylor Hall than Connor McDavid.

Remember when the Oilers traded Hall for Larsson. What an uproar that one was. But they made the playoffs the following season for the first time in ten years.

Proving that you can give up the better player and still end up a better team.

The Leafs can afford to take a downgrade on Marner if it means upgrading 1RHD. Furthermore a culture change is desperately needed. And when you're among the anointed on a team you bear the most responsibility for that team's culture.

God on skates isn't McJesus in that regard either.

Depth scoring has been really nice to get and hopefully it can keep going and not dry up for the next 15 games.

But I hope the the top 6 takes over tomorrow because with both Charlie Mac ane Hampus Lindholm out, that defense is a SEVERELY weakened state and the top should be able to take over.

I'll take a win either way but I'm looking for a big night from the big guns

JT's play to stay onside was elite. Have a feel for Willy behind him. He releases the puck and regained it with precision timing. Its a shame no one discussed the fact that JT did all that on purpose.

No, they just understand the rules.

It's the other way around. Benoit needs a McCabe level player to look good. He's Holl lite.

I think Timmins is the issue on that, I've said before as much as they need a center and they d9, they also need a D man.

I don't think you can win a championship with both Phil Myers and Timmins on defense that's not good enough.

And I do think they can win a championship this year because unlike in years past I have confidence in both the coaching and goaltending, as long as Hildeby isn't playing anyway.

But in terms of the 2 regulars, I don't go "awe f*** this guy is in.

I don't care who is in I have confidence in both.

I don't have full confidence in the defense and I won't unless that is upgraded.

It doesn't have to be big splash, just enough t9 bump Timmins down.

Here is the thing...

LHD
Rielly
McCabe
OEL
Benoit

RHD
Tanev
Timmins..

What we should see, is that McCabe and Tanev have been quite good together. 34 goals for, 20 against..

Then again, OEL and Tanev have been excellent as well... 14 goals for, 3 against.

So, one way, or another... it looks as though the second pair is set, depending on which way you want to go....

McCabe on the third pairing, makes Benoit look good. OEL and Benoit have not been very good. OEL and Timmins have been quite good. McCabe and Timmins have been very good together.

There are two things that we should take away... Timmins and Benoit can look good... but not together. Timmins and Benoit offer different sets of tools, and should be on a rotations of as 6/7 depending on what we need, and who we wish to use as the #3 LD, OEL or McCabe. OEL and Benoit is something we shouldn't be doing.....

Missing in this discussion, is that Rielly hasn't really looked that good with any of them. I'd say his best is with Tanev.... the point? Get Rielly a partner, that pushes everyone else down.

4 Nations hangover for a spell methinks.
