No one on the Rangers bottom six can score (not that their top six is lethal anyway). Calling up the kids with offensive talent adds scoring threat and they get to hands on learn AV's system.

I could be wrong but I don't think its being implemented in Hartford.

Personally I am a believer in firing GM, Coach and AHL coach all at once, so the AHL coach is teaching what they will have to do at the pro level. GM needs to pick his guys. Et cetera. That is how you create team identity.

Totally agree as to how a team identity is built. Unfortunately for AV he walked into years of the same system and an identity that was formed around that defensive structure under both Renney and Torts. That's years, and it worked... Torts came in the same way with his safe is death hockey, it's just a shame guys didn't feel like they could be creative on the Power Play, or know how to break out of the D zone with confidence.

I look at this roster with so many guys on their walk years that they should be playing hungry for that next contract. Winning a cup then rebuilding is A-OK, Chicago did it by retaining it's core players. If the Rangers want to win this year then AV needs guys in slots where they fulfill their roles.

If Step can get himself in shape to be his Kesler and Boyle his Malhotra, this will be a more reliable team in the dots in the D-zone with a lefty/righty draw.

AV doesn't need to prove himself as NotTorts by not benching guys for defecating on the clean slate.
