Denmark doesn't like hockey?

According to Danish media outlet BT, the TV ratings for Denmark's quarterfinal, semi final and bronze medal game are in :

- 202.000 against Canada
- 214.000 against Switzerland
- 103.000 against Sweden

Danmark skrev historie: Her er seertallene

:surrender

As a comparison, over 2 mio. watched when Denmark played Croatia in the finals at the World Men's Handball Championshipe back in february. That game was however on national TV, which is not the case for the games mentioned above.

So plenty of room to grow :D

Actually thats more fair than 1 game playoffs
Fair schmair.

I’ll take knockouts / playoff tournaments every single day of the week.

I can understand the appeal of standings and a table over the course of an entire season (like premiership where each club plays each other home and away), but in a short tourney like Olympics or World Cup, it’s nearly as random as a knockout style (one bad game from USSR vs USA can cost them the gold), without a great deal of the the suspense or drama we’ve come to love.

Stockholm isn't much of a hockey city, sports wise it's mostly football. Also hockey in late spring, when it's starting to get sunny or warm outside, I think is weird to a lot of people. It would make more sense in the winter. Toronto drew a good crowd (I think) when they were here with Willy over the winter months.

I sounds like hockey will be down the list of sports in Scandinavia. People there seem to say “football” for what we call soccer. And this handball (not to be confused with dodgeball) is way more popular. Don’t know if the thread title about Danes “hating” hockey is accurate; it seems more like they’re not too interested.
We do see the odd Dane in the nhl. Have we seen a Canadian or American in the pro handball league in Denmark? I’m guessing not?

Should have held it in Göteborg

There are American players in pro leagues in Europe. But I think most of them are with dual citizenship, like Germans, Swedes or Danes with one American parent. United States men's national handball team - Wikipedia

Fine. Q is why they hosted it in Stockholm? If speaking about IIHF Worlds in winter, there was a proposal to change the international schedule with OG & IIHF Worlds to take place in February. The IIHF & its European member associations refused it.

Only 3 arenas over 9000 spectators and Stockholm is the biggest one.

The problem with group stage deciding everything could mean that team not on the ice could win the gold.

Last game between Sweden and Canada.
- If Canada wins in regulation; they win the gold
- If Sweden wins in regulation; they win the gold
- If game goes to OT, USA wins the gold

Definitely not. It's an Olympic sport and has been for some time. It's just not, AFAIK, at all played in North America.
A friend's son played handball for a club team at the University of Cincinnati. (He had been a soccer goalie in HS.) I mean, I would never have known that UC had such an organization, but I leave that here as random enough that there must be some interest in NA. It's a great sport to watch, IMO.

Most of top European federations have transfer agreement with the NHL. Either vorky doesn't know about it, or he means that Sweden paved this way on terms that are not beneficial to the rest.
Thanks for adding, yeah, your 2nd part.
