This is brutal news.

DeSmith threw in the odd terrific game this year, but any time he had a run of games, he'd start to break down. Hope's he got his best ready to go, here.
That's why they should platoon DeSmith and Silovs until Demko is back. DeSmith is the quintessential backup in the sense that he's not nearly as good when he's "the guy".

Reminds me of when Price went down with an injury in game 1 or the ECF 10 years ago and the Habs went with Tokarski instead of Budaj. Sometimes you can really throw a team off when you throw in an unknown.

Well that sucks for them but not at all the death sentence this thread is making it out to be. Sure Demko is good but he's not the whole team like he has been in years past, day to day sometimes means day to day.

This is what you win a division for. Facing a wildcard team in this situation is a lot better than facing a 2 or 3 seed.

The hockey gods are giving us a sign: Put the unknown Latvian in net.

Latvian goalies in the Playoffs do magical things.

Van fans if it is any consolation, last playoffs the Knights lost their top goalie and Hill came in and played lights out.....whose to say your back up cannot rise to the occasion?
