The KHL is comparable to the NHL in overall skill.

They also play fewer games, so they'll have fewer in each stat.
Not really, I saw for example SKA multiple times when they played in Helsinki and maybe individual skill at top line but as a team no. And I have seen also NHL games before someone asks 😂

am I the only one who thinks he would do better on the dvo line lmao I just hate newhook that much

they're not breaking up the first line and i don't think they're breaking up the Dvorak Anderson Gallagher line.

i see people putting Demidov with Kapanen at C - that isn't happening. maybe against Chicago on monday but not in a 7 game series against Washington. Kapanen is probably sitting once Heineman draws back in. Armia isn't sitting unless his arm falls off due to PK presence.

the options are either

Laine - Newhook - Demidov
Heineman - Evans - Armia

or

Laine - Newhook - Heineman
Armia - Evans - Demidov

i probably go option 2

Dvo and Gallagher are prob the most dependable vets..

They play a game easy to read, the right way. Gally can give and go, shoot; pretty ideal scenario for Demidov..

Hate to break up the 3rd line and does not give habs a 2nd though.

Man they need a good center this summer so bad. They would be one RD away from so much good.

My plan would be to clinch before we play against Chicago.
Slot him on the wing with Suzuki and either Cole or Slaf and give the fans a treat.
We don't have a center I'd trust more with the Crown Jewel than Nick Suzuki.
One thing is for sure we may be resting players but our ironman won't be one of them.
The one thing I'm not doing is asking the kid to rescue our second line out of the gate.

There could be both home and away options.

Home:
Laine - Kapanen - Demidov
Newhook - Evans - Armia

Away:
Laine - Newhook - Demidov
Heineman - Evans - Armia

Tougher to shelter him on the road.

Also, if the last 2 games are meaningful, they might not get a chance to test drive the Kapanen option.

He's probably our 2nd best C if he wanted to play in that position

I'd rather shift down Caufield and play Demidov with Suzuki before putting him with the offensive blackhole Evans and Armia who's probably the worst forward on the team at the moment.

Newhook and Laine riding shotgun with Demidov while getting the favourable matchups is the obvious answer.
as long as the kid doesn't think he has to always get the puck to Laine...need him to just be himself out there.

To be honest I just don't think there's a good option available for the kid right now. The 2nd line is fundamentally broken, and the 4th line is more like a shutdown line now that barely ever scores. You don't want to change up the 1st or the 3rd because they're working.

Newhook, Laine, Demidov, will probably be more of the same, no one's really been successful as the third wheel. Just a whole lot of turnovers and dumb plays that go nowhere. Newhook missing a wide open net, Laine turning the puck over while trying to enter the zone, etc. No matter how good Demidov is, I just don't think he can do much with a guy who can't score and another guy who can't put himself in a position to score.

You'd need like a McDavid or MacKinnon level talent to get something out of that line.

All facts. This is why I’d rather see them try Kapanen as the C with him to see what they can do, send Newhook to Evan’s LW.

He has to be on the first or second line. Either remove Slaf and put him there or play him with Laine.

I think the people who believe he won't make the second line better are in for a surprise.

Kapanen and Demidov could have instant chemistry seeing as both are coming right from Europe. A simplistic view, I suppose.
True, Russia famously gets along and works together well with their European counterparts. A tale as old as time.
