I know Arizona just added him this summer but, given their slim playoff hopes at this point, would they consider moving him?

I know he has an 8-team no-trade list, I don't know if his being from Quebec works for or against Montreal here.

What would be suitable, realistic, return from Montreal?

DISCLAIMER: Habs fans not interested in Demers, don't bother commenting.

There are likely only a few players on Arizona NOT on the market. What can the Habs offer?

Only issue is the Habs right side looks like this:

Weber
Petry
Benn

A deal for him, I feel would have to have Petry going the other way. I know that the Coyotes like to have guys with salary to keep them to the cap floor.

Seems like Arizona could use a goalie to come up through the system and grow with the young team they have.

Montreal has Lindgren who looks promising. Also McNiven.

I can't say who I would guess would be in a deal but the Habs need top 6 help which Arizona has a bit of promising guys.

Petry
Lindgren
prospect

for

Demers
top 6 forward

?

I don't want to make any presumptions. I'm looking for a reference point to start from Arizona. What do they feel is fair?

Benn can play on the left side, but that's another discussion altogether. Good point about Arizona possibly needing a top goalie prospect. That said, I don't know much about the young G's in their system.

Coyotes need RHS forwards. Duclair is definitely available to sweeten the return.

Why use cap space for who would essentially be a 3rd pair RD on Montreal when the LD is so barren?

Demers is playing well. Given the turmoil with OEL and the need for some stability, he's probably not available at this time.

NO.1; ARI just traded for Demers, he complete a very decent top 4 in ARI
NO.2: MTL already have Weber and Petry on the right side, they would have close to 20M worth in capspace on the right side
NO.3: Montreal has lots of holes at forward, and Demers doesn't fill one.

Not well thought out

petry would probably have to go back but he's got a nmc and i highly doubt he'd waive to go to arizona. also hammer is injured rn so keep demers until he returns

You cant make a post and declare no negative opinions. I mean really? This isnt a communism site. With that said, HELL NO!! NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS!

Nicely said.

NO.1 I addressed in the OP.
NO.2 & NO.3 Not at all relevant to this discussion.

if no.2 & no.3 are not relevant to a proposed trade, you may want to re-evaluate your logic as a armchair GM

please refer to this:

I'm not saying those types of questions aren't relevant or don't cross a GM's mind. I'm saying I don't quite agree with you on those points, I've crossed that bridge already, and I have no reason to have discuss Habs needs with you here. There's a Habs forum for that. I posted my reasoning in the thread "Habs defence" there.

I'd like to hear from more Arizona fans here:
- Could Demers be had?
- What on the Habs do you think is reasonable return?
