what you mean to say is, he'll have to play on a team with a deadly PP where he can rack up easy points.

don't know if you're counting WHA or not, but JC Tremblay led the Nordiques in scoring in 72-73.
14G/75A's. 1st Team All Star. Won the Dennis (one of the founder's of the ABA, WHA, Roller Hockey Intl & World Team Tennis) Murphy Trophy as the WHA's Best Defenceman 72-73 at 34yrs of age.

leetch
niedermayer (tie)
OEL might be the first defenseman to lead his team in goals with his 23 goalsOEL and Karlsson led their teams in scoring this season
Yandle was only 1 point away from being 2nd in ARI's scoring leaderboards despite being traded away with 20 games left in the season
OEL might be the first defenseman to lead his team in goals with his 23 goals
He scored nearly 10 more goals than the second best goalscorer on the team (Gagner, 15 goals)![]()

kevin hatcher co-led the caps w 23 goals in 91
I checked if any of the defensemen who had scored 25+ goals in a season had led their team in goals, and at the first glance I couldn't find anyone, so I wrote the post and added a "might" as an insurance. Is this true? I haven't found anyone else with a quick glance. I'm quite interested.
Nice find!kevin hatcher co-led the caps w 23 goals in 91
I would have never guessed that 23 goals was enough to lead any team in 1991.
Nice find!
I checked the numbers for Washington's 92/93-season, knowing Hatcher had scored 34 goals that year, and saw that Bondra led the team with 37 goals, and then decided to skip Hatcher's others seasons, having the same thought as seventieslord had. I guess I wrote Hatcher off to quickly.
Why not? The leading scorer on the Oilers that year had 69 points. (Five years earlier, 215.)I would have never guessed that 23 goals was enough to lead any team in 1991.
what? you're trying to say being on a defensively minded (and hugely successful team) with a weak PP is the same thing as "coasting through the season"?
Wasnt Kings a top-10 PP% team this year?
Does anyone have a list sorted by the margin (either in points or percentage) that defensemen have led their league in scoring?
As of today, Karlsson is leading the Senators in scoring by 15 points (26%). How significant is that from a historical standpoint?
