With the Martinez news, can anyone shed some light on which defensemen in Manchester are playing well? Is there any relief for the Kings in New Hampshire?

Schultz is an upgrade over McNabb and McBain. He may have a full time roster next year when Regher is gone.

Manchester is fine and we have 2 potential D ready. Schultz and Forbort.
But we have no cap space to call either up. That is why the Kings signed McBain to the league min.

Unless they put Martinez on ltir, but that has to be 10 games and 24 days if I remember correctly.

I would imagine the recovery time for Martinez hovers around the same mark (or just before), which is why I'm guessing they haven't done it yet and recalled someone.

Bods is just getting back from injury, he is a no go for NHL duty.

Schultz and forbort are the only guys that look like they can handle NHL minutes.

Gravel has been a little lack luster to start the AHL season. Ebert is not ready as well.

The Problem with Schultz and Forbort is cap hit 900k+ and 880k.

Have to feel for Bodnarchuk because this is exactly the situation he could thrive in.

If we get any say in who we call up, it would be Schultz due to experience. I'd be hesitant to throw Forbort or any other kids into the current train wreck until the remainder of the D gets more stable. McNabb in a perfect situation is doing the same thing as our 6-7 rather than taking every other shift with Doughty.

I wouldn't say Forbort is ready, imo. I don't yet trust his on-ice judgment.

Schultz is experienced and Bodnarchuk is ready for a cup of coffee at least, but he hasn't played any games yet this season because of his knee injured during training camp. I would say LoVerde is ready for a look-see, too. Bods and LoVerde are the only 550K defensemen is Manchester, according to capgeek.

Excerpt from 10/29 MayorsManor interview with Rob Blake:

By all accounts, Forbort is most likely a year or two away. Yet, is there a scenario where he could maybe get called up this season?

Blake: “It depends on the type of defenseman [we're trying to replace]. Losing an offensive guy, you might move towards a Colin Miller or a Nick Ebert, or maybe a healthy Andrew Bodnarchuk. And then you have Jeff Schultz and Forbort, more on the defensive side, along with [Vincent] LoVerde. So, there are different scenarios there depending on the players. Then, the whole thing with the salary cap also comes into play also – what you can and can’t bring up depending on our situation up here. There are a lot of different circumstances that would play into it. But, is he in the mix with all these guys that we talk about? Yes, for sure.”

Still not getting all the Schultz hate.

People don't watch the guy play, He is a solid Veteran Defender. That is perfect for spot duty in your bottom pairing.

The only reason Schultz is not on the Kings roster right now, is cap hit.

It has nothing to due with his play.

Schultz isn't the right guy...the current D is already way too slow. We're screwed.

Schultz saved our bacon when Regehr went down. He was serviceable and held his own for the most part, more than could be said for some of the defensemen on the roster right now.

Lots of defenders playing well in Manchester. Miller and LoVerde have also been playing great. But neither is ready for a call up yet. At the Monarchs game right now. Raine has had a solid game tonight on the defensive end. (Monarchs up 3-1 after 2)

Bodnarchuk should return next weekend.
