My bad, that was for the post above yours.

And I agree with most here BTW, we need help. We're not good enough as is to win the Cup this year. I just don't believe DL to be the idle/inactive GM that others see him to be. Yes he's cautious and conservitive but he's working on a solution to our problems I believe.

I think we need help but I certainly think we're still a contender. We're not the favorite but we were never that. Just have to show up and make noise and let our build for the playoffs cliche kick in.

I don't even think Chicago is as head and shoulders over the field as it may seem, as they have some bad matchups, too. They just happen to totally neuter us.

I wouldn't mind being a dark horse...

Kept penner. Screw all the ******** about resigning lewis, fraser and carrying 8 defensemen. That money shouldve gone to a three year, 13 million dollar contract to penner.

I'm sorry, but you are out of your mind

If the Kings had Mitchell, Stoll and Richards healthy, we kill Chicago right after we defeat both the Blues and SJ in 5 or less games. Chicago nearly lost to Detroit.

At this point, DL cańt just let the team continue to collapse because it´s his job that is going to be at stake at the end of this season that is going to be April more than anything else.

And he cańt fire the whole team so his only choice is to fire Sutter. And as much as Sutter has succeeded in getting us our first Cup, he has overwhelmingly failed this year. The team is loaded with talent, we should be amongst the top 4 in the league. LAK are UNDERACHIEVERS this year and Sutter'r continuous juggling of the lines, love affair with Lewis, Stoll and inadequate guiding of Toffoli, Vey and Pearson are one of the main reasons for such underachievement. you can't always bark that it is up to the players ad nauseum...

There are not many prospects out there but even a Jacques Martin would do a better job...

You can put that at the feet of one player; Brown. His unproductive season, especially on the road, has screwed everything up.

The word continuous is funny. One day Sutter is always changing lines, never allowing anyone to develop chemistry. The next day he's stubbornly sticking to his lines.

Sutter, like any coach, does what he can with what he's got. Again, Brown being on pace for 14 goals and 23 points, instead of 25 goals and 55 points(his average between 06-07 and 12-13), makes everything else not work right. The Kings were not counting on Brown being this unproductive.

We all knew going into this season that this offseason was going to be a really interesting one.

The defense needs to be retooled big time.
...
The bottom six needs to be retooled also.
...
The top six needs a left winger.

Retooling defence. Retooling bottom six. Getting top 6 LW. Three different issues. Prioritize, please. What is the most important issue in your mind?

Are you Dustin Penner? If so please tell me why your uninspired play and lack of production deserved a contract like that?

I don't care what anyone says, Chicago is by far the best team in the NHL. So balanced and skilled it's terrifying.

They're so balanced and skilled with tremendous defensemen, they don't even need a top goalie to win cups.

I'll go on record and say that that Mitchell comment would be laughed at by Sutter, who over and over, almost every night reminds us all that it's "not about one guy."

No way do I think we win it, just make it more interesting.

The only way it would have been more interesting was if Brown and Kopitar played anywhere similar to the 2012 run.

You guys also forget that SJ outplayed us, but Quick stole that series.....not to mention STL had long stretches of kicking our ass in the first series as well.

Last years playoffs looked NOTHING like 2012.....so yeah, Deano should have been concerned....and if it was only about missing Mitchell, the guy is freaking blind.

Me too almost in full, minus one detail that I'm a weirdo over, the RR contract. I think it was necessary and he's been actually good. Don't blame anyone that disagrees with me really, but I think it's a good contract for a need.

Even without looking up any stats, you don't think its a coincidence that Doughty played his worst hockey alongside him, and now Voynov is in a crater of a slump since being next to him?

I'm not upset with the team DL brought back this year.

I wish LA could have gotten more for Bernier but we all knew they wouldn't.

I was hoping Frattin would provide more but he hasn't. I'm not sure I can blame him alone tho as the majority of the team has dried up.

RR was a given since Scuderi was walking.

Stoll is a decent player even if he doesn't provide 20-30-50 seasons.

They look tired and warn down. I hate to say it but if we don't make the playoffs this year, I'm to the point where I just don't care. Trade Mitchell or Greene to a contender. Reevaluate Clifford and Muzzin, and jettison Fraser. Keep their own mid range first or trade it for a guy with some term and recharge for next year.

That said, I hope the break will help and we will find the Kings playing like they did in the first half of the season again.

No, because he's totally miscast on the first pairing. Voynov has been playing bad even when paired with Mitchell so I don't buy that (unless both have stunk, but even then). Again, my bigger point is who replaces Regehr if we don't get him? What if we never got regehr and then lost Mitchell and Scuderi in one offseason (then Greene to injury)? Last year, we'd have seen a D consisting of what, Doughty-Ellerby, Voynov-Muzzin, Martinez-Bodnarchuk (don't even remember who there was signed, maybe Drewiske?) on a good day, with maybe Forbort/UFA as a 7th? Obviously you count on DL to bring in a vet/extra, but hence Regehr, and what better was out there?

It's not a great contract don't get me wrong, but I have no problem locking up a need so we don't have the vomit pile above.

All of them, that's why I wrote it. I cleared house and we'd have 20 million to sign or acquire a top six left wing, a third line center, a bottom six player, and two defensemen.

No, because DL let the players off the hook when he fired ™… DL will trade players before he bails out the players again by firing a coach….. And your forgetting that before JAN started we WERE one of the hottest teams in the NHL. SO NO we have NOT underachieved

Who says it worked? The article points out the issues with the team are the same as before: poor defense.

Just because a goalie is stopping more doesn't mean the stern warning "worked."

It could be that, or it could also be that the addition of Tim Gleason has really helped as well. Their goaltending was struggling during the slide, but the acquisition of Gleason seemed to turn things around for them. He's been a monster shot blocker for them.

He has, at the end of a Kings loss to the Pens, Malkin elbowed Wayne Simmonds in the head and NOBODY responded they just shuffled off to the locker room. DL went down closed the doors and addressed the team and according to Jim Fox "...and it was loud!". So yes DL does have the balls he just knows the difference between effort and outcome.

Never heard that, but glad he did it.

Malkin is a piece of ****. I do remember they brought a shopping cart out on the ice after that game though

I don't remember the cart incident, what was that?

I believe this was right after Doughtys first "upper-body injury"(i forget who hit him, Cole maybe) so DL was obviously thinking enough is enough.
