another year as seller...

I guess everybody is avail on Buffalo.. Core has been together for a while and same result.

Deadline Deals (UFA's)
-----------------
Jason Zucker - resurgence year, only because he's playing in Buffalo with plenty of PP1 time. Trade him while value is high..
Jordan Greenway - Like to keep him but injury prone and he prob wants out anyways. Desirable asset
Henri Jokiharu - "Free to good home"

Peyton Krebs - prob no return, might be best to keep him on 4th line..

Draft Deals
---------------
Dylan Cozens- see if he can turn it around in 2nd half but just not working this year (or last)

Alex Tuch- UFA in 26/27. Trading him with 1 year term might bring decent return. Low salary cap #. He'd prob want 8mil + to resign and Sabres would have to overpay. Will be 30 when UFA... best years behind him.

Bowen Byram- not on PP1, and will always be behind Dahlin. Should get good return.

Owen Power - looks to be a 30pt D-man getting paid 8.3 million.. if we keep Bowen ?? Seeing him on PP2 and scoring his first ever PP goal last night (year 3) just realized how he's not progressing and might not behind Dahlin.

Depressing not to see any improvement and having the same team on the ice for the past x amount of years. Realistically it could be 20 years w/o playoffs..

I disagree, I don't see the point in trading one of the best defensemen in the NHL and Benson. It's actually funny, no one will trade anything, Terry and Adams are happy with everything.
There’s a difference between saying trade everyone and saying nobody is untouchable.

Just because I would be open to trading even Benson, it doesn’t mean that I would accept just anything for them.

There isn’t a player on the team that is playing at a “Won’t trade him” level, even with Benson there’s a trade package that could entice me to trade him. It would probably be a trade that hurts the other team more if it did happen.

Maybe, players out there that I don't trade and don't see any realistic trades for anyway.

That’s a whole other topic then.

But saying there are no untouchables on the team, when your best core players have been average at best and invisible at least, for far too long; when your team is last in the Conference and in the bottom 5 of the league, it shouldn’t be a statement that far from the truth.

When the team brings in support players like Zucker to be support players for your core, with the idea that your core guys should be leading the team, and they end up being the leaders of the team and driving forces, there is something absolutely wrong with said “high value” guys.

If I was a new GM being hired for the Sabres, there’s isn’t a player I’m hanging up on.

Well, that's your opinion, I have a different opinion, there are players that I categorically don't want to trade, only for an unrealistic overpayment. That's all.

I am all in on Pettersson but I doubt he gets moved but entertaining the chance he does it will probably happen when the season is over but before his NMC kicks in.

90% Chance Miller gets traded and 10% Pettersson gets traded is what I guess from the chatter.

Miller has a NMC so there is no point even wasting time on that happening.

---------------------------------------
Zucker for a 2nd at the deadline makes sense and shouldn't be too hard to move. If he wants to come back next year then fine.
----------------------------------------
If I had to choose I would keep Byram over Power and see if someone would give me a first line player for Power or offer him up(plus) for Pettersson
-----------------------------------------
With the hole trading Power away I would try to sign a free agent and there are some good ones that are still young this year. Gavrikov, Chychrun, Ekblad,
Probably not much chance to sign a high end defenseman but that would be my focus.

I'd try to "buy" some better players but if that fails I'd trade Tuch, Greenway, Byram, Zucker for futures.

Essentially I'd give myself january and february to get a re-tool going to be ready for 25/26 but if that fails I'd start building with a 2-3 year plan instead which means trading a guy like Tuch sadly.

Counter to the usual, hopefully they are looking for players not picks or to get younger. Younger got them into this mess. Staying perpetually young is not going to get them out of it.

Trades:

- Power or Byram
- Peterka
- Quinn or Kulich
- Cozens
- Greenway (TDL)
- Zucker (I would try to re-sign him and it seems like he doesn't mind, but if he doesn't decide before TDL, trade him).

Targets:

- top 6 C
- legit top 6 W
- replacement Zucker (if don't resign get similar vet)
- replacement Greenway (a physical player for the top 9, ideally he would also be responsible in defense)
- two top 4 RD, one of them could be a two-way player and the other a defensive player, or two defenders with a defensive bias

My top two targets are still Pettersson and Weegar, but I think there could be a lot of interesting options out there, just not as good as these two.
