Its already over, there is no way in hell they are winning out 70% of their games the rest of this season. At this point you're just watching to watch.

This is why early games still matter to the plenty of time people and there are absolutely must wins early in the season so you don't find yourself in a hole like the Sabres have.

After 14 seasons tho we still have people that argue and laugh when people say this is a must win game early in the season.

The palm trees thing is weird lol what he said Is 100% true but I guess people are taking it as his 100th excuse.
And what's the truth? It's the stupidest excuse. Everyone threw him under the bus for this nonsense, even his own players.

Do you have palm trees in Minnesota or what's the weather like? And the taxes? Is the market as vibrant as New York or Los Angeles? What about Winnipeg, Calgary, Ottawa, Detroit and other teams? How about bringing in players from Ontario, Western Canada, the Finns, the Swedes, the Russians, the Czechs?

Why did Trouba block a trade to Columbus and accept a trade to Anaheim?

I am pretty sure the nice weather in SoCal was a huge reason for that.

Heck, Brian Burke was on the new Jeff Marek podcast on Friday talking about how the beach was a huge draw for players when he was the GM there.

Buffalo? Same deal.

“It just seems gloomy when you get there,” one player said.

“There’s not much in Buffalo,” another added.

Maybe because they are friends family with Vatrano and Strome? Or rather, it's a fact. Stop talking nonsense about the city. Players don't go to the Bills? To Minnesota, Winnipeg, Calgary, Ottawa, Detroit or Columbus? They do. Okay, some people need the beach, and some don't. I don't like the heat, for example, I don't need California. And I know dozens of people who don't give a damn about palm trees, I can argue with the players as well. The problem is not the city, not the palm trees, not the taxes, but the franchise, the idiot owner and the GM.

Winnipeg makes the playoffs every year. They manage to make trades too. They’ve had players demand out on them and managed to turn them into positive situations.

They try. Despite being, BY FAR, the least desired destination in the league. They don’t cry, make excuses, and lose. They do the f***ing work

This thing you’ve done to try and defend Adams is just proof he has to f***ing go.

When the franchise is struggling, it is hard to draw players to the city because of the rep that Buffalo has for bad weather and not much to do.

It was the same thing for the Bills during their 17 playoff drought. That's why everyone around the league was stunned when the Bills signed Mario Williams as a UFA.

And Adams said they need to earn the respect around the league to make the franchise a destination. Like the Bills did.

And the Bills did it because they drafted a franchise QB and he made the team a destination franchise. It's not that simple in the NHL.

The Oilers drafted McDavid (a year after drafting LD) and missed the playoffs in 3 out of his first 4 seasons.

Having a perennial Vezina Trophy candidate in goal covers up a lot of issues.

Exhibit A: Dominik Hasek with the Sabres.

And am not defending the job Adams has done as the GM. He was an unqualified hire and is doing as well as I would expect given his lack of experience and lack of support in the front office.

I am just saying that while people can rant and rave all they want, players do not want to come to Buffalo right now and the weather and taxes are two reasons that are hard to overcome given the playoff drought.

Adams wasn't wrong. He just said the truth at a time where people didn't want to hear the truth.

What does this have to do with it? Is it about the city or the franchise? I just don't get it. The franchise hasn't made the playoffs for 13 years, but what does the city have to do with it? People don't want to play in Buffalo because it sucks to live there or because the franchise has been bad for the last few years? Everyone knows the Sabres have great fans and I saw it years ago, the city seems normal, Canada is nearby, but the city is in the US.

You can attract players anywhere, you just have to work and not whine about palm trees and taxes. I'm tired of explaining this, it's basic.

f***ing trade for players without trade protection (Marino, Kovacevic, Jensen). Overpay Noesen or/and Sherwood 1-1,5 million. They will come running to you. Free Fabbro. What do palm trees and taxes have to do with it?

I think the right now due to the drought and management of the team are far more important than any lack of certain varieties of perennials or tax rates. These are things that are *his job* to overcome.

Anyways, there's already a thread for this. We've got another team to play tonight, also hailing from a geographical area lacking in certain foliage. We are both better suited at this time of year though for those wanting a holiday shrub, so there's that!

Sounds like Husso v Reimer tonight

Hopefully Greenway is back

And one positive note:
Sounds like Kozak made a very good impression on Lindy, if he can stay consistent and healthy it should make Lafferty and or Krebs expendable (for whatever their worth is).
