David Desharnais.

It's stupid to use abbreviations.

Many players could have "DD" as short.

DD is David Desharnais. Everyone knows this. If you don't, that's your issue, not everyone else's.
We're not going to change things that have been that way for years because a couple people don't like it or can't keep up.

I can see MB extending DD, 5x5, but hope not.
I have nothing against him, and I don't blame DD for how his coach played him, but think we can find a better or at least equal in skill but bigger option for the same price.

There are several DD's in the league. Maybe specify who we are talking about?

So if you are a master of abbreviations.

Who are these

DK - ?
AA - ?

Not everyone knows who you as ,MTL fan, mean by DD.

Could be Drew Doughty.

I'll take a wild guess here:

DK = Donna Karan
AA = Alex Anthopoulos

:sarcasm:

Also, we can't fault other fan bases for not knowing our abbreviations for our players..I knew it right away that this thread was Desharnais because I'm a Habs fan, but we can't expect the same from, say, a Jets fan, or a Sharks fan, etc...

FWIW, a Wild fan opening this thread is probably thinking Devan Dubnyk, a Kings fan is thinking Drew Doughty, someone may think Derek Dorsett, or Davis Drewiske. It ain't their fault that they might now know we call Desharnais DD.

desharnais will not be resigned. does not fit the mold of bigger stronger tougher to play against. maccarron will be ideal for the third line center spot in sept 2017

I clicked here thinking it was going to be a Drew Doughty conversation, but reading the OP anyone should have been able to tell this is Desharnais...thank god Drew still has three years on his deal.

Lol @ fans of other teams salivating at the thought of their GM signing DD as a FA, and anxiously counting down the days until July 1st.

A GM simply does not let his franchise C walk like that. DD will stay with us, coached by MT, for the next 15 years.

I think you guys are hard on him. He has a career .6 pt/gm (which is the same as a guy like breathe. It is actually pretty good these days.

I predict he will sign in Europe when his current contract is done....likely with a team in France, who can appreciate his French speaking background and give more minutes because of it. :sarcasm:

You're rudeness and arrogance is unlike anything I have ever seen, even for HF standards.

No, everyone does not know DD is David Desharnais. It's not that I "can't keep up" with the Canadiens. I do not WANT to keep up with the Canadiens. Believe it or not, Montreal is not the center of everyone's hockey universe.

It's fine to shorten his name to DD as the thread moves along but the OP should take it upon him/herself to clarify who they're talking about. This is a board with regular visitors from all 31 teams, not just Montreal.

To the rest of us DD could be Doughty, Dubnyk, Dekeyser, and more.

And that's the wrong way to look at things.

He got that PPG rate because he was put in extremely favorable offensive situations that he did not deserve in the last 4-5 seasons. His stats are inflated because of his usage not because of his skill.

If a team signs DD and expects him to give them 50 pts, they better put him with the best wingers and on every PP which is basically the first offensive center of the team.

I don't think DD will have the same luxury with another team than with Michel Therrien.

I think his NHL career is coming to an end soon. He'd be lucky if he finds a contract after the end of next season.

My first initial thought was Drew Doughty too, but he has few more seasons to go as I just checked. Also unlike the person meant by OP, this one would have league wide interest.

You sure about that?

Hab fans maybe, doubtful many other fans are aware DD always stands for David Desharnais.

I still get confused on her when Hab fans talk about "Galy". Are they referring too Gallagher or Galchenyuk? I have no idea.

To the OP, using DD in a title thread rather than taking the extra couple seconds to spell out Desharnais is lazy, pure and simple.

I understand people are confused but to most on hfboards, desharnais is DD simply because his last name is hard for most to write or long. And im a habs fan and been on these boards long enough that doughty is doughty, dekeyser is ddk and dubnyk or dub is dubnyk, not hard to spell or long. Just my thought but i understand the confusion. ( he has become a meme so DD caught on not only on the habs board) And if so many ppl would sign desharnais, why not take him right now! Retained! For free!!
