I enjoyed Episode 3. Not much plot development, but a lot of character development. Oz is turning into a father figure for Vic... the scary, abusive father that he never had. It warms the heart.

Farrell is gonna win an Emmy for this... if it can be proven that it's actually him under there.
Sofia: "I don't know how to trust you."
Oz: "How 'bout I keep showing you how?"

One minute later...

Vic: "What about Sofia?"
Oz: "Leave her!"

Felt episode 3 was the weakest so far. I just don't care about Vic, so an episode focused on his backstory really didn't spark my interest.

I had those thoughts while watching it, too, but appreciated by the end why they showed those scenes. I didn't care about Vic before, either, but I warmed up to him this episode as I saw what he lost and gave up. It also helped establish his motivations for working for Oz. It's not just that he has nowhere else to go and it's better than stealing hub caps for a living. He seems to crave the mentorship. It seems like how you mentor a kid to keep him off of the street, except that Oz isn't exactly the best mentor or step up from a gang.

I'd agree that it wasn't quite as strong as the first two episodes, but I still found it very enjoyable. Superb writing and acting go a long way.

Is this at all comparable to the Gotham series that was on FOX? I loved that show.
Like Raekwon said, it's definitely a different style, but not in a bad way.

The Penguin is almost like Sopranos meets Batman. Definitely a mob-show so far set in Gotham. It picks up where Matt Reeves' 2022 The Batman leaves off, so it's got that sort of style and exists in that timeline.

I would agree. Shows Penguin in a gritter light than how he is normally portrayed in the comics. A lot more street. But, ties into the movie character.

On a hardcore Batman kick right now thanks to this show. I restarted Gotham so I can get my fix in between episodes of The Penguin.

I just gotta say, goddamn Robin Lord Taylor is amazing in the role as The Penguin.

I guess that one good backstory deserves another.
I was a little disappointed that she was actually innocent and not a mass murderer, but she became one, anyways, so it worked out in the end. She's now sympathetic in addition to being ruthless. It was also good to see exactly how Oz "betrayed" her.
Like the last episode, I think that this one was important for fleshing out a character's past and motivations. Hopefully, we're done with the flashbacks, though, and things will now move forward and ramp up. It's hard to believe that we're already at the halfway point.

Oz’s backstory is likely going to be an episode, I would think.

Another amazing episode. This show just delivers at every turn.

It's criminal how underutilized she was on the show. She was great with the limited screen time she got.

Whoever cast her on this show knew that there was more to her.

I remember when she guest starred on 30 Rock as this fake ditzy blonde, I thought she'd make a decent Harley Quinn.
Turns out she could go way darker and crazier than that.
