If they’re smart, there won’t be a DC Universe. Just make good stand alone films. Not even Marvel can pull off a “Universe” with great critical acclaim anymore, they have to resurrect their two biggest heroes from the grave and put them through some multiverse sausage grinder to get people interested.

Gunn is off to a good start.

Creature Commandos has been a fun watch and he has been doing some background world building in it.

Lots of silver age stuff and references in the Superman trailer too. Not shying away from that in any of his material so far.

Gunn's plan at least for this initial slate of content is that everything is in the same universe but it's not building to one big climax movie or tightly interconnected.

Characters can cross over, but there isn't some super universal threat yet.

At some point the urge to try and do Justice League again will prove too great, but at least for now it's a ways off.

Reeves Batman is the one exception. It's completely separate from all of this and Gunn is going to have his own Batman in this universe and it seems he will come with at least the first two Robins (Dick and Jason) and I assume Barbara at some point

That all sounds great to be honest

It seems Gunn's The Suicide Squad/Peacemaker side characters have the most crossovers.

Rick Flag Sr. Is in Creature Commandos, is showing up in Superman, Peacemaker season 2, and presumably in the Waller series.

The Green Lantern series is focused on Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart but have to imagine Guy makes at least a cameo since he is in Superman.

I am surprised but his initial slate is super light on Batman. The Brave and the Bold is the only universe Bat anything planned so far.

Meanwhile we got Superman next year and Supergirl the year after

I'd rather they save Batman for later to avoid Batman fatigue.
And rather than re-doing his origin story, the focus should be on the Bat Family. The Death in the Family storyline would be awesome if done right with a little patience and world building.

I think Gunn has talked about having an already established Batman in this universe so we'll probably avoid another origin story. From what I recall the plan seemed to be to start around a Damien Wayne story so Batman would have already been several Robins in before introduced in this series. I'm not sure a 'Son of Batman' story is a great jumping in point for the DCU but Damien Wayne has grown on me as a character in the comics since his introduction. I'm hoping they mix in the newer 'Ghostmaker' stories which could help tell a story of an established Batman but mix in some of Bruce Wayne's pre-Batman training.

Ok Superman is nice and all but just give me season 2 of Peacemaker. I binged that whole thing in one weekend after it came out and have been desperately craving it since
