Player Discussion David Savard

What he was asked to do was impossible, no one can replace Shea Weber.

He did a however did a really great job and his presence in the locker room has been important and one of the reasons why we currently have success so early in the rebuild.

I wish him the best in his retirement.

Well he's been huge for the rebuild and did what he could to fill Weber's role. I think he was a great acquisition and this is the first season where I've felt he was slipping. So to see this news makes a bit of sense.

He's been a warrior and I know he's going to go balls to the wall because he knows this is it. Thanks savvy

Big news. He's won the Cup, so he can help the kids.

It also brings closure and certainty for October. He's not even a factor or after-thought anymore.

Also big respect to someone realizing they don’t have it anymore rather than needlessly prolonging their career. He’s not that old, but his body is clearly worn out.

Must be difficult to love your career and admit to yourself you just can’t do it anymore.

So will he be ok then if we sit him? He admirably just admitted his body cant follow anymore.

Maybe they didn't trade. Because they knew he'll retire at the end of the season. If that'a true then that's a gesture of class from the org towards him.

Unfortunately, Struble and Xhekaj are shit on the right side and he's the only other RHD beside Carrier on the team. Also, in the playoffs, Ds tends to stay at home a lot more which should make him more efficient.
