He definitely wasn't. He was very solid last year and fell off a cliff this year. He's been cooked since at least last season, potentially the one before.
Nah...He's been cooked since at least last season, potentially the one before. Good for him though, awesome career.
He's in the lineup because he's a RHS. And he probably shouldn't be seeing more than 12 minutes a night anyways.I am happy for Savard and would like to congratulate him on his lengthy career.
I think this puts Montreal’s coaching staff in a bit of a situation here. The playoffs have a more condensed schedule and Savard is the #6 defenceman. I was guessing that Savard would be healthy scratched here and there in the playoffs to conserve him. Now with him announcing his retirement it will be a lot harder to healthy scratch a leader knowing he only has a handful of games left in his career.
Oh he can still do it. He's still smart and he still has pretty good hands, much better than one would expect anyway. We sure could use another like he was over here now.
Thanks for the memories, Savvy, and enjoy your retirement... after y'all crush the Caps. (I wonder if he's got one more of those little dangle goals in him like he did to Hedman a few years back...)
Makes sense. Columbus fans were warning us he was cooked like 5 years ago. With the lack of interest in him at the deadline the last 2 years, he was probably looking at a major pay cut, and not everyone wants to prioritize hockey in their mid 30s for around league minimum
loved him last year but this season has been a complete nightmare that being said hes well liked in the room so probably helped the younger players
Happy retirement Savy
