Confirmed with Link: David Savard retirement after this season.

Oh ya now that he's announced his retirement he's the best guy ever.Almost all of us had nothing good to say about him before.Sort of when someone dies and they say what a great guy he was after saying he was a no good prick when he was alive lol.

LOL, exactly what I was thinking while reading the comments. I was like... am I in the Twilight Zone or something? I'm sure he's a good guy but he's a liability on the ice and I don't see how he helps the team. Leadership I guess.

Someone called it yesterday on the radio because his wife wore a bunch of apparels custom made with memorabilia at the last game

He already has a ring, but he better win the cup this year as well

Good guy.......leader, sacrificing his body blocking shots, etc and everyone loves those guys...........that said, man he got slow slow this season......no way is anyone offering him a contract......

I would love to see him stay, in some kind of role with the team.

Not many NHL players can say that they won a Stanley Cup and retired playing with their home grown team.

The cherry 🍒 on top would be to win the Cup this year 🤞🏼

Congrats!
I know one more who can say that partly …. Won cups and retired with their childhood team :)
Sidney Crosby come on down ….

I don’t think he helped the last 20 games though. If he had a few games off and they managed his ice time he could have contributed more

His icetime was managed. 17:07/game in February, 14:50 in March, 11:54 in April.
Even he knows he's washed. Only person on earth that doesn't, is Martin Saint-Louis.

See the above. He's been used as a #6-7 for quite a while. Coaching staff knew the end was coming. More reason why he wasn't scratched. You don't scratch a guy playing his last miles, especially one as liked as Savy in the locker room.

Respect......can't say anything else.
Not my favourite player but still a great guy that helped a lot this rebuild.

Now that I know he plans to retire, it makes sense.

The criticism has nothing to do with the person, and everything to do with his play. By his own admission, he’s no longer an effective NHL player.

Doesn’t mean he’s not appreciated for what he brought over the years.

David Savard 14th NHL season = Buffalo Sabres not making the playoffs since the last 14 NHL seasons

I'll always have full respect for players that don't cheat on effort and put their bodies on the line. He's a true warrior.
I wouldn't be surprised he refused a trade to a contender to chase one last Cup because he preferred to end his playing career as a Hab.
Happy retirement David Savard.
