I am trying to find more information on Reinbacher but it is very difficult for me to find any recent posts. It is possible that my search function is not working properly since the most recent result I found was from 2023.

I am hoping that someone who follows his progress regularly can provide an update.

Would a team drafting 5OA in 2025 do a one for one swap?

He's starting to skate again. Should play some games before the season ends. I don't see the Habs trading him and I think we will be very patient. We are likely to test Mailoux more next year because we got to figure out how good or bad he is before he becomes waiver exempt.

Reinbacher to me is a longer development type. Why would we trade a RD who is age 20 and 1-3 years away for someone who is 17/18 and 3-5 years away? Makes no sense. And no, I'm not buying these "deeper draft" narratives.

If you're drafting a guy 5 years away at 5th overall you're doing it wrong

Reinbacher will play some game in the nhl next year. He was draft 1 year after Nemec who is still in the ahl this year.
Name 2 NHL level RHD MTL has under contract next year and you quickly realize the situation is not the same.

I don’t think either team makes this trade. The Habs or whoever holds the 5th this year. Unfortunately Reinbachers stock has fallen due to a piss poor development situation in his D+1 season and a serious injury in his D+2 season. The habs probably feel he can still be the player they envisioned when they drafted him and it would take more than this years 5th overall to move on from him, given he’s a significant need for the habs and it’s a lesser draft.

The update is he got injured in training camp and will come back around March.

For value, there is no accurate answer until he plays again.

Matheson Carrier?
Notable right handed shooter mike matheson

Thanks for the quick response. However, I disagree with the bold text.

If Reinbacher has top 4 upside and can play in 1-3 years, I would definitely consider trading him for someone that has top 2 upside and can play in 3-5 years.

I think a good example is Alexander Nikishin. I would rather wait for him to play in the NHL than someone that is ready to play today. Waiting an extra year or two is not a big deal if you are getting a better prospect.

Yes, MTL is having to play players on the offside to make up for deficiencies.
Like several team in the NHL, what's the point? Nemec would also be in the ahl if he was a mtl prospect. Reinbacher and Nemec will play some game at the nhl level next season.

I disagree with your disagree. haha.

7/8 years from Suzuki to Demidov with pretty much everyone else in the middle. We need Reinbacher to fill a top 4RD hole. If you try to flip that for someone 3 years younger, you spread the age range from Suzuki to Demidov to 10 years ish. You will waste prime years of Suzuki and his value contract bud.

Who's going to trade someone with more upside for Reinbacher who is coming off injury?

No he wouldn't be lol. He probably would have been in the NHL in 22-23 in MTL

The op is a Habs troll, nor sure what he's trying to prove here...

"...still in the AHL this year..."

What a disingenuous statement about Nemec, making it sound like he can't crack an NHL roster which is absolutely not the case.

He's not ahead of any MTL RD right now.

Matheson
Carrier
Savard

He could for a few team like SJ Chicago but certainly not in MTL.

Hockey writers have him ranked as the #35 prospect overall and the Athletic had him even lower than that, so to answer your question that would be an emphatic no

David Savard, the guy who you all spent months telling me was so awful that he was singlehandedly dragging Hutson's results down into the basement? That David Savard?

And again, notable RHD Mike Matheson

Yes, every team has 3 guys who they send out there.

When they don't have enough effective guys at that hand, they shift a guy over to his off hand.

...and so the original poster who put Matheson in the RD spot was...correct...and no, Nemec wouldn't take his spot...so the poster was correct there as well...so what is your point here besides to argue for the sake of arguement??... :dunno:
