Prospect Info: David Reinbacher - Laval Rocket edition

If RB doesn't become a pp option, but turns into a "Slavin-esque" top pairing dman, I'll be a very happy camper.

With Hutson in place hopefully for a long long time, we've got minimal need for another elite level PP dman, especially if we stick to the 4fwd 1d for the foreseeable future
100% agreed

I think it’s within reach.

From what I've seen so far, I think so too.

Was a doubter from the get-go cause I thought he was a reach, and wanted one of Michkov/Leonard. That said, the few times I've seen him play, damn he reads the ice -very- well, and has the physical tools to go with it, just a stabilizing force in our zone who can move things forward.

That said, I'm still doubting, not because of his potential, but if he could only be healthy from now on, that would be great. If he can manage that, he'll be in the NHL pretty soon.

I’m not sold on his offence, but his reads, transition and first pass are all high end. Does that translate to 40 points? We will see. I think 40 points without PP time is setting the bar pretty high and not realistic. I do see him as a rock who will be pushing the attack more often than not, so maybe it is realistic.

The reason I wanted Michkov was because we have been starved offensive talent in Montreal for decades and I believe the top of the draft is where you get these types. I think you can get away with a bit of patchwork d as long as the team has a defensive system that plays tough d by committee. The pens won the cup with Letang injured and Dumoulin their top guy. It may not be the optimal way to win a cup because we do not have Malkin or Crosby, but it is doable.

Getting that minute eating D at 5 might even prove more valuable. I’m excited to see if there is some offense in there I don’t expect.

I think he’s our 2nd PP dman of the future. He’ll never be an offensive dynamo, but every time I’ve watched him play, he makes solid decisions in the o-zone and actually creates offense.

I think Slavin comparison is more suited to Guhle than Reinbacher.

Reinbacher is more in Dobson mold than Slavin IMO.

I like the Tomas Harley comparison, but hum..

I would have never drafted Harley ahead of Michkov, even if he had been a RD. :naughty:
U don't know how to build teams

Harley over michkov for sure. Are u not watching these playoffs? Harley has been a beast all season and has reached another level in the playoffs.

Exceptional with heiskanen out until recently

Then why did they pick Caufield? I'd pick Mitchkov over him for sure.

I would have had Hartley and Michkov.. Not bad eh? :naughty:

Because the Habs thought at the time that Caufield was BPA... on their own list.
In a redraft, most teams probably pick Thomas Harley before Cole Caufield and it's not close imo.

Number 1/2 defenseman >>> undersized unidimentionnal complementary top 6 winger

I know that I would pick Harley instead of Caufield in a redraft... I think that it's a no brainer tbh...

That works too

As long as you get Harley.

BTW the Habs, a different management team, we're very high on Harley and was gonna be their pick until caufield surprisingly fell. As it turns out Harley would have definitely been the best pick. But caufield was also a great pick.
