Prospect Info: David Reinbacher - Laval Rocket edition

46 games last year was more than Ryan Leonard played that year. So again, it's literally just this year where he had the one injury.
He 100% missed time for a knee injury with Kloten during his d+1, and he definitely missed the AHL playoffs with injury last year too

Maybe a better metric to evaluate his how many games played out of how many available, because he clearly missed time at least twice with injuries that year, I think 3 times

Laval didn't make the playoffs. He missed the last game of the season with a minor injury after being rammed into the boards the day before.

During his draft year he missed 3 games with an MCL injury during the WC.
He missed 3 weeks with Kloten in his D+1. Then he missed the last game of the Rocket.

That was his injury history prior to this year.

Interestingly, Habs management should have stayed away from Reinbacher's bad knees, when he missed 3 games (i.e. a week) during the world championship.

However, Michkov getting his knee destroyed by Emelin and missing two months during his draft year was never an issue that was brought up.

Michkov or Leonard would have been the better choice, and Reinbacher still hasn't impressed me. People are reaching for compliments at this point. 'The way Reinbacher reaches in the corners and comes out with the puck 40% of the time is a clear example of why you always take a RHD when available' just total nonsense. He's a 4-5 RHD at this progression, so yay ?

we'll see as Michkov certainly looks like a great guy to have on the PP or in the regular season, hard to say how he will do in the playoffs since he's never played any playoff games above the MHL (junior level) though he crushed it. I do like Leonard but we'll see how it goes as he is not big at all but plays big so will his body hold up year after year? We'll see.

I was shocked at how bad Reinbacher looked in the NL at times, sure his team was ass but the kind of mistakes he was making right away said there's no way this guy is an elite shutdown D. So far in Laval this year I have mostly been happy with his play, yes he makes mistakes, but I just think the scouting reports have been wrong as imo he will need to be paired with someone like Guhle. But he's got a good shot and can move the puck, not sure about the IQ yet but I do think he will put up 30-40 pts in the NHL in time.

The pre-draft scouting report that stuck out to me was someone saying that the team that picks Reinbacher high is going to do it not because he's a safe defensively reliable player but because they believe that his offensive tools will come together. He might not be #1 PP type, but yeah putting up 40 points which will mostly have to come from ES would certainly highlight his offensive abilities.

30-40 pts for a Dman is good these days, but with his injury pattern I just don't see it. He's been pretty lame in the playoffs for Laval if you ask me, for a hyped 5th overall pick. Mailloux is just as impactful, if not more

Good correction I thought they got eliminated in a quick series but was misremembering, I knew he was injured to end the year though

One blew out his knee this year, the other didn't. Doesn't seem overly difficult to understand the player that did may not be flying full tilt lol

One is injured every year , the ‘scouts ‘ here said Mailloux was trash and Michkov was a bum. You expect first round picks to show a quicker progression and be healthy. This is painful to watch the kid validate his draft ranking

Like I’ve been saying for a long time, his likely upside is something similar to Patrice Brisebois. With his injuries though, it’s looking like a real possibility that he doesn’t ever even reach that. Maybe a taller Josh Gorges at this point. Or maybe nothing if he can’t stay healthy. Things aren’t looking good, in any case.

Your Honor, that statement is hearsay.

He did not suffer a major knee injury; rather, he experienced a minor setback that required a routine surgical procedure and a brief period of rest.

I assure you, everything is going exceptionally well, and to suggest otherwise would be, frankly, unthinkable.
