Looks like Boston and Swayman did manage to make peace in the end, unsurprisingly. He got his long term deal for more money than he's probably worth right now and the bruins get to finally turn that page and focus on the season.

8.25 isn't so bad nowadays for a good goalie. By year 4 of the contract, the cap will be around 100 mil and with that 8.25% he'll take on the cap won't even be double the average % of a player on a full cap 23 man roster, which is 4.35%

Draisaitl will be 3 times (and some extra) this average in the same frame (with a cap at 100m). 14% vs 4.35%.

It's not bad for a number 1 goalie, the issue for me is more that he's never really been one before. It's a lot of money for a guy who never started more than half the games in a season.

Fagemo would be okay with me, I always thought he had good potential but he never stuck in the NHL

Terrific AHL guy. 43 goals in 50 games last year, might be the kind of guy Hughes thinks has untapped upside in the right system (AKA no system)

It was Friedman on a recent edition of 32 thoughts. He said that Michkov and his camp withheld information and told information differently to other teams to manipulate the outcome to go where he wanted, which is Philly.

Michkov also met with them secretly on top of the regularly scheduled one that he had with other teams.

It's where he wanted to go, so even if you picked him, he could sulk and stay in Russia to force a move like Gauthier did to Philly.. and the return for Gauthier, is rarely ever the value of the guy forcing his way out.

And I do extend the courtesy to other prospects and players; all I've ever done on the Michkov saga is say that how SKA wanted nothing to do with him, even if he returns from Philly this year, is a strange thing to wrap your head around and gives a lot of credence to the smoke regarding the character questions. Turns out SKA is just a really stupid organization, as evidenced by handling Demidov; so I've not made the assertation recently.

Just a case of a guy who wanted to go somewhere and used his contract in Russia to navigate his way favorably through the process.
I always figure there was reason we passed on Michkov. Because huge difference in talent. But I would have drafted him. Philly was fierce to get him. Them seemed over eager. Could got king's ransom for him. Either that or traded down gained future first. Still got Leonard . I had him high also. Michkov not going to sit out career just because we held his rights.
