I think putting Perron on Stu and Brady's line could be good. Not a great skater at this point, but he's still good defensively and can score if he's given talented linemates.

Like Varada was to Bonk-Hossa? (Not the scoring) But just being a physical defensive presence that can allow the other 2 to go up ice for offense from time to time?

I'm so happy that the health update on the Perron family's baby is positive.

Having said that, let's be honest - this probably wasn't a great signing. Perron is showing all the signs of aged based regression out there. His skating has slowed down, he isn't as physical as he once was, and his hands have abandoned him. Frankly, I think "veteran leadership" is overrated. We need guys who can score and keep up in this league. Right now, that doesn't look like him.

His heart is someplace else right now.

So are his legs. They've been someplace else for a couple years now.

My Detroit friends warned me. Good 4th liner for the next year or two but if he's playing a big role in your top 9 you're probably not a playoff team.

Happy we signed him for a couple years to be in our top 9 lol

Perron and Cousins have both not worked out. There are many reasons why and I don't want to crap on either player, but by any objective metric, these signings have been terrible.

30 even strength points last year with most common linemates (5v5) Raymond and Larkin. 36 years old with 4 straight years of declining production.

Not sure what this buys us ......
I guess my question was answered .....

I'm no great prognosticator, just this signing seemed weak from the get go.

My best bud, a die hard wings fan who's more knowledgeable about hockey than me says this about him:

"Heart and soul, love the guy. His skating is cringeworthy though. Not worth 4 anymore, but I like him. Good Pp guy still, but he can't keep up with the pace and takes tons of lazy stick penalties because he can't keep up. I wanted him back at 2x2 to be a 4th line guy, 2nd powerplay..but clearly his value was higher than that. But he works his ass off"

Those are all his texts i put into one paragraph so the flow of sentences might sound weird.

Looks like my wings fan buddy was right about this one.

Between Perron and Amadio, Staois has wasted 6.600 and a 3rd round pick (to get rid of Joseph) on essentially zero offense. We probably could have overpaid for Matt Roy with that money instead.

Staios has done a poor job of optimzing the cap IMO.
Oh yeah we desperately needed one of those Right shit D.

Then we could move chychrun for a forward.

Pointed out when the signing happened that this guy's production in Detroit was a smokescreen.

The 47 points he had seems impressive, until you consider he was playing beside a PPG center in Larkin all season and was getting 3 minutes of top unit PP time a game, which is nothing something he'd get here.

Maybe he'd get 40-50 points again if he were stapled to Stutzle's side all year and got top PP minutes, but obviously that's not the role he signed here to play.

Dumb signing.

For all the praise he gets in Sens land, Staios has been very underwhelming.

Even the Jensen trade looks like a loss, Chychrun is having a career year.

Well it was more like praise he got this summer after taking over from one of the worst GM's ever, and the Ullmark trade looked like a massive home run divesting himself of the worst starter in the league at the same time. There was still division on his moves.. Don't think people are pouring it on now, but it was still just year 1, so have to see what happens from here.

lol, he’s been the Sens best defenseman, followed by Chabby. One of those trades that good for both sides.
