Oilers made a push for Rantanen and apparently were willing to go higher on an extension than he signed for.

I'd easily be good at 4-5 1st rounders valuation for Pasta. Finally give Draisaitl an elite winger. McDavid would see oppositions 2nd pair D-match up as no way teams wouldn't line match a Draisaitl - Pastrnak line.

If Boston is rebuilding I don’t think the Oilers have what Boston would want. No 1st until 2027, best prospects are meh and only young roster players are Bouchard and Skinner.

Yeah, I too would take the guy who has led his team to 1 playoff appearance in 10 seasons in a game over the guy who *checks notes* has back to back Cup wins while leading the league in playoff scoring and 167 points in 147 career playoff games.

Or the guy who produces 15 more goals and 40 more points per season than Larkin.

But to be fair to you, leading a 98 year old franchise to their longest playoff drought and consecutive years under .500 streak is leadership you cant put a price tag on...

I came in here to say the same thing. I would kill to have Pasta on the Oilers, but we just don't have the assets for a rebuilding team. Oilers could send their top 5 prospects and it still wouldn't be enough.

My somewhat unpopular opinion is that the salary cap also theoretically caps trades so teams that trade superstars wouldn’t receive what the fans think is fair value back
