Player Discussion David Pastrnak II

The Blues were allowed to run around and cheap shot everyone, that was the biggest difference in that series and Berube crying to the media about the times they did get called for penalties.
Game 4 The Bruins has 4 powerplay goals, then after his tirade, they couldn't get a power play. The series was patheticly handled by the League and even NBC was brown nosing the Blues!.
The Bruins didn't stand a chance of winning that series because the League didn't want that to happen!.

Game 3

But still gotta control your own destiny. Ya we got robbed game 5, but still handily won game 6 and should have put up way more of a fight in game 7. They played scared after the second goal and let it just slip away like it was a foregone conclusion

Hard pass to all of that reasoning. Im not going to run around sounding like a 2011 Canucks fan.

Idk about the league conspiracy stuff, all Cassidy had to do was whine as much as Berube and game 5 might go Boston’s way and now you’ve got a mulligan between game 6 and 7

But it’s absolutely correct that a lot of stuff the bruins got penalized for and the league was putting a microscope on suddenly evaporated in that final. The blues weren’t just playing hard and crashing nets, they were taking high runs at our players. The number of times that Sunqvuist or how ever it’s spelled guy left his feet on hits I lost count

That said, if it was the 2011 bruins vs that Blues team, the bruins win in 4-5.

The bruins needed to nut up and leave it all on the ice and they didn’t, but it’s also why I put blame on Cassidy aside from the lack of gamesmanship, putting in Kuhlman over Backes was a huge mistake. Backes would have left it all on the ice in that game and been in Binnington’s space so often, we would have broke through a lot sooner and if the game is 2-1 in the second instead of 2-0 and eventually 3-0 and eventually 4-0, it’s a totally different outcome.

That game was 25% Cassidy’s lack of proper planning and working the refs, another 15% him not adjusting shot and strategy in game, and 60% the players just not figuring out a way to get it done.

How do we feel now if the bruins have that cup? How much does it change how we view the team now?

I think one thing is for sure, bruins win that cup in 2019 and Sweeney feels less compelled to sell the farm between 2020 and 2023, Cassidy is likely still here, and we have a better prospect pool to continue marching onward instead of where we’re at now.

Through one week of the 2025 IIHF Men’s World Championship, the Bruins representatives have put forth a strong showing, paced by David Pastrnak, who leads the tournament with nine points (four goals, five assists) in four games.

Pastrnak posted two goals and an assist on Thursday in Czechia’s 6-1 win over Hungary. Jakub Lauko has notched one assist for Czechia, which is 3-1-0-0 and ranks first in Group B.

For me 2019 Breaks down like this…

50% - Game 4 Chara blocks Brayden Schenn’s shot with his jaw. Chara was the Bruins most important player physically and the wired shut jaw and fishbowl significantly neutralized him. Freak incident that completely changed the direction and tone of the series.

20% - Gamesmanship. Berube was tremendous at working the refs and the media, he helps clear the path for the cheap stuff and his team took full advantage. (Again though, if Chara is not bubbled up it may have been different.) Cassidy was completely schooled in this aspect of the series.

20% - The bogus NON call on the slew foot trip of Noel Acciari. This holds this much weight because of the magnitude of the goal that was scored in the wake of the infraction. That was an egregious non call from Kelly Sutherland and he was looking right at it. He should suffer food poisoning every time he eats out in Boston for the rest of his life…f*** him! And while I’m at it, f*** Bruce Cassidy for not losing his shit, both during the game and in the press conference after…STEP UP buddy, that’s your JOB.

10% - The decision to not play David Backes in game 7. I know he didn’t have much left to offer, and I know Kulman scored a goal in game 6. BUT the Bruins needed a proven, grizzled WARRIOR in that final game not a darty, passive wanderer. I’m not sure what kind of impact Backes would have had on the final score, but I can assure you they would have known he played in the game!

Yea chara getting a puck to the jaw and breaking it was a freak injury ( I mean too, what are the odds the tallest player gets hit in the face vs the shortest lol) was pure bad luck. No way the Blues win with a chara that’s 100% in games 4-7, probably doesn’t even make it 7

The NHL ensured a game 7 and Cassidy and the Bruins lost the game 7 clean. The issue is there never should have been a game 7.
