Player Discussion David Pastrnak II

Damn, for a few moments there I thought the Bruins signed David Pastrnak II.

@Sheppy you could tell Monty didn’t want to be in Boston off the bat. Pasta was not himself. Moody and he always looked frustrated. I blame Monty for the way this season went. I am just glad Pasta found a way to overcome all the bs. He’s truly a special player. So glad that concussion and ankle injury dropped him in the draft

Monty didn’t want to be here

Think back folks to the Toronto series. All the talk he’d be fired if lost. The talk shows were routinely were trashing him after the 22-23 playoffs. His family realized how important the Bruins are and over the top some fans are. Mrs Monty wanted out - and really who would blame her. Monty wanted out especially with his Blues having a vacancy.

It’s likely the same reason I’m told Mike Sullivan would never come back. The spotlight would shine on his daughter and SIL.

Good luck getting a top guy in here. Boston has a shit reputation not the city the fan base.

I live here I have Bruins & Patriots tickets and baseball is my first sport. People are viscious here.

I’ve had a bunch of Bruins fans going after Swayman at games - heckling him and I think a few would like to get their hands on him.

Monty was smart and was fortunate but he was really distant and not the same guy - he is a nice person and people like him but he was just unhappy or feeling a lot of pressure

I blame our media. Boston sports writers and radio jocks are the very definition of "We eat our own" and the fans follow suit. Hell, half the "fans" on this website only post when things are shit because they like nothing better than to tear down the team.

Seriously, I've lived close to Philly and even they weren't as bad as Boston when it comes to self-loathing fans.

Good post - I believe he had Mono when the Czech team came to Lake Placid summer tourney in 2013?? He missed time and scouts had watched players and developed crushes on others

They went over to Sweden 2X to watch Pasta at Axelsson recommendation and eventually draft him

Ironically it went 180 degrees against Bruins in 2007 when Logan Couture a Bruins prime target had mono and missed significant time ~ it opened door for Zach Hamill

My buddy lives in London so me and my daughter stayed at their home on a trip and his grandson played for I think Ottawa 67’s but he chummed around with Doughty & Couture - they were all from same neighborhood or area (those street hockey games apparently were insane). He told us they thought Couture was going to Boston

Weird how it balanced out

Hmmm
Schaefer miss time this year with Mono.

Just saying

Fans have Kucherov ahead but there is a massive PP production boost in Tampa.

I wager Pastrnak is the #1 winger.

You can't just ignore Kucherov's PP production. Kucherov as of today has played 5 fewer games than Pastrnak. That basically adding minimum 5 more points to his point totals. You're talking about a 20 point gap in offensive production. Thats a gap of 20 points which is a gap to far to overcome for the vast majority of voters.

He will be top 4-6 in MVP voting with Kucherov, MacKinnon, Drai and maybe Makar ahead of him.

It's not ignoring it to point out that the only reason Kucherov is ahead this year is because of teammates. Right now they are 15 points apart, not 20. 119 vs 104

- at ES Pastrnak is outscoring him 81 to 75
- Kucherov has a 25 point advantage on the PP
- Kucherov spends his PP time on the ice with Point, Hedman and Guentzel
- Pastrnak spends his PP time on the ice with Lindholm, Lohrei and Zacha.

So a 40/50 goal, 90 point center, an 80 point perennial Norris candidate and a 40 goal PPG C/W vs 2 50 point centers and a 2nd year D.

To be clear, the reason Pastrnak wont crack the Top 3 in MVP voting this year is the Bruin's record, plain and simple.
