Greg Brady @bradyfan590
I realize this is VERY speculative, but told by a source Randy Carlyle is "not exactly safe".
lol

This is getting good

I realize it's Greg Brady but I can see Carlyle getting fired too.

Nonis is a sane, steady GM. Pretty much the polar opposite of Burke's brash, headline-grabbing style. He likes to build patiently through the draft and is extremely adverse to high risk moves. He also loves defense-first, well goaltended squads. This can result in something of a bland on-ice product.

Sounds like he's just your interim though. EDIT: Or not...

Really weird timing on this firing. I hope Burke gets another job. If nothing else he's incredibly entertaining.

this is just a glimpse into the future here.. rogers and bell are gonna drag this team down even further.

Honestly, I had respect for Burke' for his goals and vision of what a hockey team should play like however, I'm convinced that his successes are largely due to Dave Nonis.
I would peg Burke's firing on a few key reasons. One is management of his buddy Ron Wilson. He should have been fired well before his one year extension instead of the fans firing him. Another reason is his self imposed rules and player bias over the organizational needs as a whole. There was no excuse for BB to not offer Stamkos an offer sheet for max money being in the position the franchise was in (as an example).

I'm happy as hell right now...here on the inaugurate 1st Annual Leafs Liberation Day

But I felt there would be a better option than someone who has had a hand in the worst record the Leafs have ever been through in history.

What do think will change hockey wise with Nonis?

Go back to being miserable.

Go back to being miserable.

You're very rude.

I don't think much will change at all.

More of the same.

I'll give him a chance to make some meaningful progress to the team...and evaluate just like I would any other.

Nonis is asked about truculence: he responds saying that flipping players around is not easy and adding people like Colbourne, Lupul and Gardiner are difficult to add but they will try adding guys like them again and not to expect huge deals
