I very much subscribe to the 'David Krejci is our most important player' belief. And while he is admittedly one of my favorite NHL players, I'm not suggesting that 'most important' is 100% complementary. In fact, it could in part emphasize the inconsistency/variance in performance a lot of his detractors harp on, though I think that is largely overblown. As someone who has watched 99% of his shifts over the last 12ish years, I don't see what those folks see. I would argue that Krejci is no more inconsistent then similar high quality players throughout the league, though I do believe that his methodical/"slow the play down" style of play ends up hurting the perception of his effort when he isn't putting up points.

I did a version of this exercise quite a while ago but had some free time this afternoon and refreshed it.

Note: The very presence of points and therefore team goals will weight any outcome here towards the positive, so a perfect version of the below does a much better job accounting for that, both relative to other player's performance and the team's overall. That said, I feel like the results are so overwhelming that they still speak to something.

Since the 2006-07 Regular Season when Krejci played 6 games, the Bruins regular season record when he is in the lineup is:

483-259-98, for a winning percentage of 57.5%

When Krejci has >= 1 point: 305-90-51, 68.4%

When Krejci has >= 2 points: 124-16-12, 81.6%

When Krejci has >= 3 points: 31-2-0, 93.9%

In the playoffs over that same time period (again this is restricted to games he played so it doesn't even account for the Philly comeback after Richards crushed him)

Overall: 63-45, 58.3%

When Krejci has >= 1 point: 43-15, 74.1%

Overall, I feel like this data is mostly a commentary on how good of a player David is and the impact he has on this team. I also feel like it highlights the stability/"set your watch" to it style predictable performance Bergeron/Marchand have brought over the years. The consistency of that duo likely enables Krejci's production to be a difference maker more than it otherwise would.

Krecji is super underrated. I feel like quoting some fans from early in the season who were complaining. Borderline perfect game really. Smart two way playmaker with a sneaky good shot. Wins face offs too. <3 nothing but love from this fan.

I completely disagree on underrated.

This whole thread is nothing about complaining that he doesn’t play to his potential.

Just ask @LSCII

I did a little digging & found that he's 35th in the NHL in points per 60 among players who have played 40 games or more. He's ahead of some pretty big names.

I think his performance confirms that for the first time in a long time he came into training camp 100% healthy and has remained healthy throughout the season.

71 points in 80 games and a career high 52 assists. Now if he'd just shoot the puck more.... ;)
Your right. He has had a good year. Can’t complain about this year, but the other years were torture watching inconsistency.

confirmation bias...

Since 2008-09 - looking at only players with 500 or more GP, he's ranked 31st in P/60 and 15th in A/60

and Im sure it had nothing to do with him getting saddled with the revolving door of shit wingers

Congrats to Krejci for tying a career high in points tonight.
If he does the same in the playoffs he’d move into 2nd all time playoff points as a Bruin. I hope he has a few more big runs and goes after Bourque’s record, but that’s a ways off.

I think the more serious approach he took to his diet over the summer and into this season had more to do with his great year than anything else. I think Cassidy recently caught himself from saying just this recently.

It is not that he seemed faster, he just seemed to have better endurance. Better endurance allowed him to play more consistently and more engaged.

If this is true and he keeps it up, he probably has several more very good years in him. Off the charts hockey IQ and hands can keep a guy productive late into his career. With better endurance, he can maximize these qualities.

I have a feeling that Krejci will be the Bruin chosen in the Expansion draft in a year. If one of their prospect centers can solidify a spot next year, I don't think the Bruins will protect Krejci but use the spot on one of their star wingers instead.
