What's the point? They're not gonna win it all with him and Bergeron there for 1 more year. Bruins need to start thinking about the future, their pipeline is completely dry.
This is a trope that people often don’t grasp the levity of.
The Bruins were firmly a playoff team last season. 51 wins (tied with TB) 107 points.
That’s without Krejci, and not losing virtually anyone. Yes a few key guys will miss a little time to start the season, but regardless…
For the Bruins to go from a 107 point team and decide “oh we need to rebuild, we have to restock the prospect pool” they would have to essentially tell Bergeron and Krejci that they are not going To bring them back (no added value to the team doing so, you don’t get picks for telling your own players no thank you just retire)
You’d have to trade several of Marchand, McAvoy, Lindholm, Pastrnak, Hall and Coyle, you’d have to hope your Young goalie Swayman whom you have tabbed as the future, has a bad year, thus realistically regressing, and you essentially either replace all or most of those players with depth pieces so that you can let Don Sweeney draft your future…
No Chance.
You bring your Star Center back (Bergeron), your middle 6 Center back (Krejci) and you see how things go. If things go south for some reason then you sell at the deadline
But to decide to go rebuild right now? At this point?
No Chance
