Thoughts on this player?

I liked him last year and didn't mind that he was brought back, but he's clearly not good enough offensively to be a third line centre on a good team.

I'd try switching him with Domi or (if it comes to it) make Nylander the 2C, Tavares the 3C and Kampf the 4C.

They have room for a 22 man roster with Liljegren on LTIR. Could send Benoit or Lajoie down and call up a forward.

I'd just assume waive him too though but I doubt it happens.

Kampf doesn’t have a role on our team. We need a third line that can chip in offensively and he just doesn’t have any offense in his skill set.
He is not physical enough to be a fourth line energy center.

Take his 2.5 and get a big crease clearing dman.

Coming in slightly below expectations both offensively and even defensively IMO. Unfortunately for the team, he isn't the only player for which that criticism can be made.

He's a solid player, but is making a bit too much money for his role.

It would be nice to move him and have some more cap space, but we would then have a hole in the bottom-six we would need to fill.

I could see us making a move in the off-season involving Kampf + later round pick for a similar player making less money.

He’s a 4C that can only excel as a 3C in very specific circumstances. The Leafs as they currently are cannot maximize Kampf’s strengths and so his weaknesses are being amplified.

They did start the season with Kampf on the 4th line but a shutdown 4th liner on a line with one of the worst defensive players in the league surprisingly didn’t work.
The team was poorly constructed. It’s a just a bunch of random pieces without any thought to how they would fit.

44 percent on the draw too, easily worst on team, and that's always brought up as a plus with him. The guy has been absolutely useless this year, a zero tool player.

He has turned into a defensive liability. There isn't a singular thing he has done well this year. Not overhyping prospects but his level of play so far puts him below Roberson, Minton and Cowan. He had better shape up or he will be out by Christmas.

He is one of the problems. One of the 4 or 5 holes on the team this year. He is getting caved.

Part of the problem is his salary says he is a 3C, but his play says he is a 4C.

His agent, JP Barry, should be in jail for the absolute robbery he committed.

He stole a 4 year deal with trade protection for his 4C who played just one game in the playoffs - that has to be illegal somewhere.

I don't understand why GMs give 3rd or 4th liners these clauses. It's not like those guys have that much leverage.

It’s a style thing more than a talent thing. Bérubé likes his depth guys to play a certain style and Kampf doesn’t do that.

Keefe played Kampf more than anyone but the core 4 in the 2022 playoffs… and he got more even strength time than Nylamder.
