Not sure how plugged this individual is but they think we may be looking at Wahlberg?

Hello from the Sabres board.

The basic thing on Chad is he definitely knows *someone* in the organization and has broken one or two things before. But he doesn't get/share much information and has said plenty of things before that did not end up coming to fruition.

So - I don't doubt someone in the Sabres org said this. But that person could be, like, a janitor who half-overhears conversations.

Both Johnston and Seravalli have been saying a deal is close for days and yet the local beat says it’s not and he continues to play for the monsters. So I’m going to go with it’s not as close as they think.
Yes, considering the local beat reports make far more sense from CBJ's perspective. There's something to be said for the quality and not quantity of reports. Particularly if you consider the possibility that some reports may practically be echoes of each other.

I need some sort of graph, chart, or heat map so I can follow which subjects I’m supposed to trust the CBJ reporters about, and which ones I’m not.

They traditionally get scooped on trades but seem to do alright with injuries and starting line ups. But that is mostly based on the Jarmo era.

Here is some local reporting on Jiricek:

Yes but the rest of the board says national insiders say the trade is imminent therefore our beat writer is completely wrong...

I looked at that comment in the trade section and I had a "are you serious" face. This is from the same group of people who says young superstar Danforth needs to step it up if he wants to continue playing in this league and not get demoted to the AHL

If there are that many teams in on Jiricek he's not going for table scraps really. This isn't a Laine situation because you can just park Jiricek in the AHL for awhile. My conspiracy theory all these "insider reports" Is just Walsh feeding information to them to force Waddell's hand and move him quickly instead of waiting on the right deal.

May well could be. As others have noted, our local beat was routinely scooped by the national guys plenty in the Jarmo era. But we’re no longer in the jarmo era. And we know Nash and Porty are pretty tight.

Porty was pretty on the money with the Laine situation. Was pretty on the nose regarding our interest in Lindstrom at the draft. Etc. but I guess we’ll see
