Jackets need to trade this guy now because his stock will only continue to drop. Not too sure if he’s worth more than another club’s questionable high pick. Reinbacher from the Habs?
i wouldnt say replacement, but someone who could learn from him.Are you thinking potential Hedman replacement?
Stop no one wants higkanderHoglander and a pick from the Canucks.
Waddle is the new GM in CBJ. Not on him that Jiricek was the 6OA pick in 2022. So, he doesn't have a lot of rope left in CBJ. And if moved, he won't for the new team either.Jackets need to trade this guy now because his stock will only continue to drop. Probably should watch for rocksJackets need to trade this guy now because his stock will only continue to drop. Not too sure if he’s worth more than another club’s questionable high pick. Reinbacher from the Habs?
(Player played in the AHL literally today)A guy who has too big of an ego to play in the AHL and is not good enough for the NHL. He is not a coachable kid. Blue Jackets would be good to get anything decent for him
maybe I'm the dumb guy here but it seems to me like his trade stock will actually benefit from playing 20+ minutes a night in the AHL instead of 9 in the NHL.Jackets need to trade this guy now because his stock will only continue to drop. This post doesnt belong in this thread. It's way too correct and sensible.lots of garbage proposals in this thread. as a reminder:
any talk trying to diminish his value because "he's not ready" seems to be missing the fact that none of his peers (save mintyukov) are, either. they're not trading him as a top-four RHD upgrade to a contender, they're trading him as a top-end prospect who checks all the boxes.
- jiricek is 20 years old and was drafted 6th overall in 2022
- there are zero defensemen in the NHL from the 2023 draft
- looking at jiricek's peers from his class (nemec, korchinski, mintyukov) two of them are in the AHL as well
he's been on the radar for a while but this is not a prospect who is behind schedule – he still has plenty of runway and a massive ceiling.
as for what CBJ is looking for: a similarly talented young player, ideally one who is a bit farther along. under no circumstances are they looking for multiple pieces back. one-for-one, or a big fish for jiricek+. that's it.
that means fewer names like hoglander and more names like byram or rossi.
That’s fair, the comment came off more as a “hoglander is a nothing player” vs. Something that doesn’t appeal to Columbus. Not an area Columbus is struggling in at all. It's just a "how to make my team benefit" offer
Huh?Sucks for Columbus seeing a lot of high draft pick not working out.
Jonhson not looking like a top 5 at all.
Jiricek wanted to leave like a princess.
Lindstrom not playing this year due to a operation this will slow him down for a year or 2.
The worse of all is Johnny Hockey.
Good thing Fantilli is kicking ass.
But Jiricek could sure crack the Habs line up, wonder what columbus would want back from the habs though ?
You can “entertain” trade ideas until the cows are in the barn. It’s not up to us. Imo Juricek has good value now, but that will decrease over time if he continues to struggle. This post doesnt belong in this thread. It's way too correct and sensible.
Jiricek's value isnt dropping. He's a 20 year old defensemen. What are we even doing here? The only reason he was pissed last year was because Jarmo dicked him around. Jiricek was right to be miffed and now the bad mans gone.
I would entertain a trade for another top prospect but these Hoglander type trades are garbo.
Willander and a later pick, perhaps, I think it'd have to be a higher end piece coming back to make CBJ move him. They really have no need to, 'available' isn't any type of set in stone. That’s fair, the comment came off more as a “hoglander is a nothing player” vs. Something that doesn’t appeal to Columbus.
I don’t know if Vancouver has anything enticing to Columbus with a bare prospect cupboard. Think the only alternative would be EP2.0 (defenceman for defenceman) with a pick added on the Vancouver side

I don’t see the difference between Jiricek and Willander making much sense for Vancouver, they’ve yet to see what Willamder can do and would be a huge gamble. The value is fair thoughWillander and a later pick, perhaps, I think it'd have to be a higher end piece coming back to make CBJ move him. But, I might like Willander more than others on the CBJ board would. If it makes both sides wince to do it, maybe we got something cookin'
So we’re trading a guy we got at 6 for a pick that could easily be in the 10-20 range ? Not sure that makes senseMy offer from the Blues is a 2025 first (top five protected; moves to 2026 if it's a top five pick).
He's playing great in the ahl. NHL Coaching staff he's fantastic with the puck, needs to clean up the defensive side. I'm sorry where's the struggle? Once again, he's a 20 year old defensemen. You can “entertain” trade ideas until the cows are in the barn. It’s not up to us. The thread is about where Juicek is right now and what his value might be. IMO it’s good now. Columbus could expect another club’s stalled high pick in return. Like Reinbacher from the Habs.Or it will increase over time as he develops in the AHL…since you know, he’s a 20 year-old defenseman and that’s where most of them belong. Including absolute studs like Simon Edvinsson who was drafted in the same spot the year before Jiricek and spent last year - the equivalent to Jiricek’s this year - in the AHL and with very marginal guest appearances in the NHL. Or guys like Simon Nemec draft several shots ahead of him.
The narrative that a 20 year-old defensive prospect that has not popped off yet at the NHL level is therefore a tanking commodity is an absolute riot…
