I could see Korchinski for Jiricek.

Both haven't transitioned as well as you'd hope but still fill a similar need.
If Jiricek has a skating issue that's a no.
Davidson doesn't like players that can't skate. I think that they would have taken Korchinski over him.

As an Oil fan I’d offer Savoie + Blues 2nd (currently 40th OA). Not sure if CBJ would do it, I know some of their fans said they don’t have interest in Savoie.

I can’t see Jiricek being any worse than Emberson, so he’d actually get a chance for regular NHL playing time with us.

So...

- Jiricek isn't quite NHL ready. He would be a worse choice than Emerson this year. In the future, he'll be really good but this whole situation is in part because he needs some time to develop.

- Savoie doesn't meet Columbus's need. Savoie is a small player without the ability to be a sure fire top 6er, he'd get lost in the shuffle in Columbus.

Korchinski has not publicly complained nor are there any reports of him being unhappy with being in the AHL. He's growing there this year.

He really shouldn't of been in the NHL last year.

Both need AHL time, if Jiricek is gonna be unhappy about it i guess a team with weak D would be the fit.

I love how big people want this to be, just like Johnson last year . 2 points in 2 AHL games so far and GWG today with apparently solid defensive play.

GMs inquiring and Waddell atleast accepting those calls are what GMs do, they should all be fired if they didn't

I really want him in Tampa. Would CBJ want picks? NHL ready players? prospects? Tampa has some NHL dmen and would probably give up the 2nds we have this year and our 1st next year. we also have some prospects that could fit in CBJ if the deal was right

lots of garbage proposals in this thread. as a reminder:
  • jiricek is 20 years old and was drafted 6th overall in 2022
  • there are zero defensemen in the NHL from the 2023 draft
  • looking at jiricek's peers from his class (nemec, korchinski, mintyukov) two of them are in the AHL as well
any talk trying to diminish his value because "he's not ready" seems to be missing the fact that none of his peers (save mintyukov) are, either. they're not trading him as a top-four RHD upgrade to a contender, they're trading him as a top-end prospect who checks all the boxes.

he's been on the radar for a while but this is not a prospect who is behind schedule – he still has plenty of runway and a massive ceiling.

as for what CBJ is looking for: a similarly talented young player, ideally one who is a bit farther along. under no circumstances are they looking for multiple pieces back. one-for-one, or a big fish for jiricek+. that's it.

that means fewer names like hoglander and more names like byram or rossi.

Sucks for Columbus seeing a lot of high draft pick not working out.
Jonhson not looking like a top 5 at all.
Jiricek wanted to leave like a princess.
Lindstrom not playing this year due to a operation this will slow him down for a year or 2.

The worse of all is Johnny Hockey.

Good thing Fantilli is kicking ass.

But Jiricek could sure crack the Habs line up, wonder what columbus would want back from the habs though ?

Why do Vancouver fans think anyone cares about Hoglander?

Not like he's 40. Hogs is just 23 year old, he just came off a 24 goal season last year. Hoglander just doesn't fit Tochetts system. Like Jiricek, Hoglander probably just needs a change of scenery to really excel at NHL level.

It's actually impressive how out of touch this comment is. Johnson has been an absolute beast and single handedly makes the PP look functional.
Jiricek never asked to leave.
Lindstrom expected back this year.
Fantilli is still trying to figure some things out Looks better lately with Johnson back but gripping the stick and snake bitten right now

Are you thinking potential Hedman replacement?

I want him in my oil. 3rd to 2rd by playoffs. If he leaves.. opens up a better path for svozil. Win win

Savoie and a 2nd should get that done IMO.

Young cost controlled middle 6 player who has an edge to his game. Would be stupid to trade him but the team desperately needs more defensive depth

Small skill guy... sounds exactly like a Waddell player. the only win win would be for your obsession with nationality and being an Oiler fan
