he could probably have earned an NHL spot this year, via PTO or something on a 2way contract. but overseas == security and probably more money.

I agree a roster spot was wasted, but not on Desharnais. McLeod, Holland sure. Those spots were wasted

Even if you don't like Nieves, it was ridiculous to have Desharnais playing down the stretch ahead of Boo. Desharnais was clearly not in the plans for next season, whereas Nieves may yet have a future with the club. That's how I see it, anyway.

He will definitely kill it in the KHL. Skilled player just doesn't have the physical attributes to be a successful top 6 player in the NHL and hardly makes sense in a bottom 6 grinding role.
