Dave Bolland on Twitter

Welcome to leaf nation

Dave Bolland has had his share of injuries. His last nearly full season of games played was 2008-2009 where he played 81 games.

So, yes, HE IS INJURY PRONE until he proves otherwise!

And he has a career-high 47 points... Wtf is everybody so anxious about signing this guy for?

I ****ing hate it when people justify their opinion with meaningless and silly buzzwords like "winning attitude" and "character player." It's even more of a piss-off that our management does it too  I was hearing all kind of stupid buzzwords before we signed Clarkson

SHUT UP. He is an injury-prone third line center who won't put up anymore than 40 points. The Hawks cut him loose for a reason, and it's looking like they aren't missing him too bad in the playoffs.

NOT. INTERESTED.

I think the Hawks cut him loose because they valued Bickell more at 4 mil, and have two fairly important fellas to resign after next year. It doesn't mean that Bolland isn't a good role player and that the Hawks didn't think he was a useful player.

Maximum in my opinion and no more than 3 years. Florida or someone may come in with 4 or 5 then you have to cut bait.

If I were Bolland, I would agree to a 1 year deal given last year's injury. One year to play for a big contract. It might work for both teams.

I'd rather let him walk and pay the money for stastny.

or sign Stastny+Bolland and trade one of our top 6 C's(kadri or bozak, asset management wooo)

In order to sign Stastny just trade Phaneuf for futures etc.

If you sign Stastny, you have to trade Kadri, then still sign a shut down centre, unless you're planning on giving one of those two the checking assignment for Crosby, Stamkos, Tavares, etc. And don't say Bozak, because breaking up the only line on the team that has chemistry would only make matters worse.

“David has said all along that Toronto definitely is a consideration.

“At the same time, there are other considerations involved here — things such as market value along with other factors.â€

Read between the lines: he wants overpayment. He is obviously sending a message to management, who I hope won't budge on his ridiculous demands. You're a third liner, Dave. Sign at that money or have fun in Florida!

We have a good core and Bolland would definitely add to that. Looks like we have some good ones on the farm so it's going to come down to, again, discipline and desire. So go get em Shanny. All we can do is hope your on ice success transfer's to off ice as well. GO LEAFS GO!

I'd a do a 1yr like another poster mentioned. He's too risky for 3. but brings some heart and leadership we need

Good going guys, now he's going to bring this in to managements office. He's going to ask for the moon because it is a "great business move."

Bolland reminds me of a healthy Gary Roberts, possible captain material.

Willing to bet a large some of money that Managment move Kadri and sign boland to a 5 year deal worth 4.5 million per to play second line center. He's a Carlyle guy and Shanny seems to like him too. It would be such a leaf thing to do too.

Shanny said he likes mentally tough players, Bolland could be categorized as this.

ya guys, Bolland will sign a one year contract this summer. :shakehead:shakehead
Would certainly be ideal, though completely not going to happen. I don't want to sign the guy to anything more than that since we have no idea how he'll bounce back from that injury or what kind of impact he can have over a season. But no chance he signs that short a contract.

Thus I say let him walk. Not worth the risk.

If that's how the players on the Leafs receive him, then good for you guys if he gets the C.

On the Hawks...Bolland was a quality guy, a well liked guy, and was his best as the team's 3c (he never wore a letter in Chicago...but was loved for playing his role).

Why do you think he'd be an appropriate captain for the Leafs? He really is a great guy - and i have no doubt he's a fantastic locker room presence...it's just i'd think he'd be an unusual choice for your captain :dunno:

I saw some good play and timely goals from him, in the dozen or so games before he got injured.

HE'S A GOOD PLAYER, GUYS.

That's a good point. I guess he never had to wear a letter because of all the other solid vets on the team.

I think most people in Leaf land are just searching for an answer if they were to ship out Phaneuf. In part, people are assuming that since he's from the area, has been in the league for a while and seems like a hard worker (both on and off the ice) so it would be a good fit. Personally, I think he needs the A if he were to stay. He's injured too often to carry the load of being a captain on one of the most scrutinized teams in the league.

I get I'm not a very sympathetic voice - the Hawks are my fave team and the Leafs are my #2..but i'm from Toronto, etc.

...but what's Bolland going to do as your captain?

I know this remark might not be well received - but why not leave Dion w/ the C and stop *****ing? Just my opinion, but the whining about captaincy just seems so stupid...if nothing else - you've got Rielly, Bernier, JVR, Gardiner, Kadri, Kessel, Phaneuf (i get hating Phil/Dion is popular...as is trading Gardiner/Kadri)...but that's really not as bad as you guys make it sound. imo, more than anything else, you have a problem with depth at forward which shoves all the pressure onto your top 6 (but mainly kessel).

the leafs really aren't as bad as you guys think...they're not great. but they're not garbage either. imo.

The Bolland to start the season, I sign that guy immediately.

I was calling it a top priority at the time, I was so impressed by him and how he elevated the team. He was flourishing in the Toronto environment looked like a stroke of genius from Nonis. Then, the skate cut.

But it was more than just buzzwords with him. He actually DID bring leadership. The guy made almost no bad decisions with the puck. He was the veteran accomplished centre we were lacking. Was a big face-off guy and minute eater.

"IF HEALTHY, like proven by medical staff" I would have no problem resigning him to a 2-3 year deal 4-4.5 max.

Signing Bolland doesn't mean we trade Kadri either. This is a depth move. Injuries prove you will need a deep squad anyway to sustain consistency in and not only make the playoffs but possibly get home ice. Which for once in my life would be good to see!!

I believe that if the Leafs feel that they can move Dion that they resign Bolland....he would be their choice to wear the C. He would not get more than 4 per for 5 years...and likely a contract structured when more money in the first 3 and less in the last 2.

So if they can move Dion, they will resign Bolland....
