Dave Bolland on Twitter

From the beginning, it’s felt like the Leafs saw more in Bolland than what he was, which was a solid, hard-working, complementary player playing a depth role on a very good Chicago team. While his long list of injuries was a significant problem and limited his contributions with the Blackhawks, there were others as well, namely his lack of production even when playing with stars like Patrick Kane.

Chicago liked the player and tried to get every ounce that they could from Bolland, playing him on just about every line and with every type of linemate as their depth down the middle was tested. In the end, he had limited minutes in the latest Cup run, and Stan Bowman settled on younger, cheaper players he felt could fill a similar role around his already established, elite core.

I wonder if he's just retweeting all of his mentions without reading, haha. He is the guy that retweeted a comment that was along the lines of threatening Bettman during the lockout period so either he doesn't always read what he retweets or maybe he's not that bright.

Or maybe he's doing all of this retweeting so that when he leaves, he can turn to the fans and say 'you can see how much I wanted to stay but it just didn't work out the way either side hoped it would'.

A similar contract to Bozak would be my highest offer and more than fair. 5 years at 4.2 million. Or walk away.

Sure, next year after he proves his worth on a 1 year $3.5M deal.

However, I'd cut the 5 years down to 3 years.

Truly complicated.

For one , we cant give him term, two we may need cash to sign Statsny? 3) I don't see anyone giving him $4M to be honest. He is a one year guy until he recovers his form.I could see us offering 2 or 3 years at $3.5M but after that Clarkson deal Nonnis may be gun shy now.

That is what I was thinking as well as around the max I'd go with him.

Bolland after Stastny is the 2nd best center on the free agent market and fills a role that we desperately need help in.

Bolland fills exactly what we need playing on either the 2nd or 3rd line as a guy who can check, cycle, kill penalties, have leadership and still chip in some offence. If Bolland doesn't get injured our season probably looks a lot different then how it ended up.

People expecting something like 1 year of Bolland at 3 million obviously missed deals handed out to inferior players like Gaustad, Zubrus, Stalberg, Ward, Upshall, Dupuis.

In a perfect world that is fair.
That won't happen though and if the Leafs/Shanahan like him that much he will get more than 3.5. I think you all know that.
I would rather try for a real no. 1 C and move Bozak/Kadri down a spot. Unless Kadri is moved as well. Then Holland.

Would much rather see Bolland signed to a 2-3 year deal over a 1 year. The guy has something that the team desperately needs: passion to be a Leaf and heart. He reminds me of a guy like Gary Roberts.

How about we sign him for 0 millions of dollars over 0 number of years, so he can play 0 number of games with us. That's my preference anyways.

“David has said all along that Toronto definitely is a consideration.

“At the same time, there are other considerations involved here — things such as market value along with other factors.”

Read between the lines: he wants overpayment. He is obviously sending a message to management, who I hope won't budge on his ridiculous demands. You're a third liner, Dave. Sign at that money or have fun in Florida!

By the time the Leafs are ready to compete Dave Bolland will be in adult diapers, why would he sign here except for a big payday and a Muskoka cottage.

Hey guys, for those of you on twitter and who follow Dave Bolland, many fans are tweeting him telling/asking him to re-sign and he's retweeting (re-posting) every single one of them, including mine. Maybe he re-signs here and takes a hometown discount?

Maybe something to do with this...

"In fact, in the past two weeks, the two Mimico natives had a lengthy one-on-one meeting in which Shanahan, the newly anointed president of the Maple Leafs, pulled no punches with Bolland, a pending unrestricted free agent. The message: We want to you be part of the Maple Leafs future."

What a joke! Let's overpay for David Bolland, what a genius idea! Culture change, what culture change?

I'd rather let him walk and pay the money for stastny.

or sign Stastny+Bolland and trade one of our top 6 C's(kadri or bozak, asset management wooo)

In order to sign Stastny just trade Phaneuf for futures etc.

Florida already have a spine of centers who all but one have been drafted and developed (developing) by them. Pirri they traded for (but who Tallon drafted while at Chicago). Perhaps he would have interest in Bolland seeing as they go back from their time in Chicago but I reckon Tallon rather play his highly rated kids.

Bjugstad
Barkov
Shore
Trocheck
Pirri
Grimaldi

Tampa also have a spine of centers in place so I dont think they have room for Bolland. And if they plan to resign Callahan then I guess they dont have the cash for him either.

Stamkos
Johnson
Filppula
Thompson
Namestnikov

I like Bolland and he does fill a need but with his age , injury history and considering he's better suited for the 3rd line i wouldn't offer more than 10m over 3 years , which i unfortunately know is way less than he'll receive on the open market.

This team can't afford to keep overpaying non impact players and i just hope our mang realizes this .

Hey I'd like a rebuild done through high draft picks at positional needs to build the core. You don't get want you want you take what the Leafs give you. I'm not sure how high the Leafs are willing to go but I bet you it's at least in the 4+ range.

Nonis and Poulin and them pretty much said Dave Bolland is the heart of this team and his injury was the biggest factor this season.

He is going to be resigned, and I have a not so good feeling that it's going to be a stupid contract

If Bolland in 14 games is the heart and soul of this team, who cares what we do. 22 other guys are screwing us.

3 years 3.5 is what i would want. max... but again Nonis hands out Pejorative Slured contracts constantly so i wouldn't be surprised with a 5mill contract
