Olympics: Datsyuk says this medal means more than the Stanley Cup

I find it very condescending that people say well its was not best on best so it means nothing. First of all its not the Russians fault that the NHL decided not to participate, second the Russians beat all the teams they had to beat for them to win the gold. If they would have lost the same people that are saying it means nothing would have been making fun of them for losing versus lesser competition.

And unfortunately they DID NOT win it under the Russian flag so it won't go down as a gold medal for Russia! As will no other medal won by the OAR, too bad for you.

I think it's not only people like me, it's more of people like me who despise cheating and cheaters, that's why Russia was disqualified and banned from the Olympics!! So no Russia DID NOT WIN GOLD no matter how much you want it to be so. The players under the OLYMPIC FLAG WON GOLD. And it's still too bad for you!

Because you can't dope your way to medals like you did in Socchi? The results speak for themselves. Without organized doping with home field advantage, Russians are inferior at athletics.

Like I said, Datsyuk's comments are uniquely Russian. When the playing field is completely stacked in their favor through drugs or the competition not showing up, they squeak out a win here or there. I guess for some that's pride. For me while I'd be happy I'm not sure I'd be as excited as Datsyuk is. But again... typical Russian delusion. "Everyone else is cheating", "these were really great rosters that could compete in the NHL and win", etc... Whatever you need to believe to get you through the day.

Their hockey team didn't cheat. So quit crying.
I don't see why people are upset. Europeans value Olympics very very high. We value the cup. Myself i dont care much about Gold Silver w/e Give me the Cup.

Which Russians on our Olympic hockey team were doping? Again. No one cares about your asterisks and this win in spite of the Witch Hunt has brought our people closer together.

I don't understand this post honestly but when will any of us get close enough to "shit talk" them?

They won gold medals at the Olympics, they don't care how they did only that they did.

Pens won the Cup in 2009, Daytsuk missed the first four games of the Final, Lidstrom was playing in the Final a week after having a testicle removed. You think Pens fans think the Cup is tainted?

Beer league tournaments are meaningless and have absolutely no conversation about them outside locker rooms.

A good chunk of the world was watching Olympics and here we are still talking about it, will talk about it, and this will forever go into history books. Millions of people were inspired by what happened here, including kids in Germany and Russia who will embark on sporting journeys of their own to carry on legacies. And you're here.. talking about it.. and saying its meaningless.:sarcasm:
