There was a bunch of discussion about how little/much a later first round pick is worth. I'm of the strong opinion late FRP's are not valuable and should be moved, but teams should look for later picks for dart throws. Tampa's strategy of trading for good young players using draft picks is the way to go in my opinion... but just not Tanner Jeantot
I was bored during today's game so I pulled some data on drafts between 2015 and 2021 from hockey reference. They had an advanced stat "point share" that I'm using here. It's not some end all be all but I was just trying to get a quick way to view compare across draft positions.
I've also just included a basic average of games played per year from each position.
It pretty much looks exactly as I felt, top 10 picks are valuable, anything after that drops off fast. You need to be lucky and pick the outliers.
I'm not data analyst or expert on drafts, but found this interesting
