Well deserved!

The Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings will be represented by forward Anze Kopitar and defenseman Drew Doughty.

The teams will be coached by Peter Laviolette of the Nashville Predators and Darryl Sutter of the Los Angeles Kings.

The rookies, who will compete only in the Skills Competition on Jan. 24, are ... Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Pearson.

Happy to see Kopi, Dewey and Pears made it. Former Norris winners Karlsson and Subban didn't. I would have liked to see Carter make it, but we got 3 in there so I'm pretty happy.

The Gods, Karlsson & Subban didn't make the All-Star game? Whaaaaaaaat? How could the NHL be so, so heartless?

Honestly, don't think Kopi or Doughty deserve it. Doughty is borderline IMO, Kopi isn't at all

well, it's a heckuva lot better than the days of sending Cammalleri or Frolov, but having Kopitar in and not Quick just proves how arbitrary these things are. It's well documented but he's easily the biggest dissapointment so far on this team, but I think a fair bit of those votes are from name recognition from being on the Selke ballot, more of a nod to past performances than this year, which is fine I guess.

Pearson has been such a godsend over the last year. He's been on a lot of peoples radars for longer, but did anyone really think he would bring this much upside this fast?

You and I are the only ones that liked this event that's probably why they axed it.

I wouldn't go that far, people want more from him but there's plenty of suck to go around. Despite his issues he IS tied for the team lead in scoring with carter despite playing three less games. He had a bad game vs. the Rangers but before that he was scoring at a rate we hadn't seen previously. Though I agree it's a nod to past accomplishments and the champs for better or for worse (usually for worse since it's crap like that that illustrates how far behind the PHWA and others are when it comes to award voting and such).

Why did they get rid of the Youngstars game? I loved that event.

Ratings IIRC but I agree, was a cool idea/event.

Doughty needs to be one of the captains.

Did you say he didn't? Doughty deserves it, Kopitar is there for recognition of his previous playoff outputs towards the championships.

I didn't realize that I had to run down the entire roster of the all star teams in order to comment on the two Kings players...

Faulk is on the team because he's filling the one player per team criteria. If we are doing that for the Kings, I'd probably give that nod to Doughty.

Kopi is there for exactly the reason you state, and I'm never a fan of that. Kopi has been very poor for long stretches of this season, his play this season isn't worthy (IMO), and I'd prefer he have the time off for rest
