seems live Nucks fans are saying Pyatt and AV get along so he may stick. Powe and Asham will not both get pickedup , lucky if one does

Depth chart if they do

Nash, Stepan, Callahan
Hagelin, Richards, Kreider
Zuccarello, Brassard, Pyatt
Haley, Boyle, Dorsett
----------------------
Fast, Miller, Kristo
Mashinter, Lindberg, Hrvik

Sather is going to do something tommorow fo sho

Lapierre will be signed for starters, I fully expect Richards to be shifted to the wing with Stepan, Brassard, Boyle, and Lapierre down the center.

Not right at all.

Both players are on one-way deals. During the summer, all one-way deals count against the cap.

If they want to put them in the minors, they'll have to put them through waivers in October. At that point, if unclaimed and assigned, any amount of their deal over $925k will count against the cap. I.E. $75k for Ashams deal.

K Ty,
I Dont consider 75k an impact to cap.

i liked both of these guys. even though powe didnt score you could see the effort he put in. asham though i really liked at the end of the season and in the playoffs even though i thought i would hate him when he signed here. as much as i liked these guys, i dont think this team needs more 4th liners we have plenty. i would rather see haley come up and replace powe and apparently lappiere is a legitimate option. good luck ash and powe.

I can understand these moves, but I would've kept Asham. Neither bring energy. Powe was only good for the PK. Asham was a solid grinder/enforcer, but again, no energy.

I hope this team isn't going to be soft....

Although I did not necessarily dislike Asham and Powe, I am happy with these moves. This opens up different options for our 4th line, such as allowing some youth to compete for a bottom line role. Or, of course, a UFA signing.

I'm not sure I understand this line of thought couldn't they compete against these two players? Wouldn't they have to beat these two out in competition? I don't think the cap is so tight we couldn't bring in 2 ELC's.

So you think we have the answers within our organization for sure? I dunno about that. I think they may need to develop more and I'm unsure about mash. Shame a guy like Weise couldn't stick and be our 3rd/4th for a couple of years.

I rather watch our own players crap the bed than dealing with old washed up free agent signings play terribly.

Boyle is an excellent fourth liner. Good third liner, in my opinion. He'll do the job well. Dorsett is excellent for energy and grit, same with Boyle.

The CBA allows a team to assign a player to the AHL with the team taking a cap hit on anything above $925,000 in 13-14. The Rangers would save $1.85M by assigning both players to the AHL. $216,667 cap hit. The Rangers don't want to do that if they can avoid it. Give those players a chance to play in the NHL next season. The Rangers could trade them if they aren't claimed. Take back a contract. That type of stuff.

Please say no. Please. Can't stand that guy.

most of the league hates him but that may be a good thing. Dorsett and Lapierre would drive teams nuts, just worried about PIM.

Also Haley could be a cheap option at LW if they get what they want and Asham is claimed

How is it Chicago can throw together a line like Saad (20 yrs old), Kruger (22yrs old) and Shaw (22 yrs old) and get solid play. While the rangers prospects are never ready and they are better off signing multiple 30 year old goons every year?

Play Lindberg and fast and miller. Let them learn on the 3rd or 4th line.

Didn't the Rangers have a line of Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan just a few years ago that was the same kind of thing?

Some people seem to have no memory and no understanding of ebbs and flows of young players within an organization.

7 years ago. Lol.

I understand ebbs and flows. But I can't stand watching 33 year old goons who can't play get signed because they are scared Miller isn't ready.

That was 2010-11. Three seasons
ago.

Why don't we actually wait to see what happens with the Rangers before blathering on about not handing Miller playing time he hasn't earned over said "goons"? Because, in reality, until JT proves otherwise, Asham is a better NHLer than him. That hasn't happened yet.

Playing a line of 25-26 year olds, is not nearly the same thing as a line of 20 year olds. So no. It's not the same thing at all.

But either way, how can Miller prove he is a good player in the NHL when he doesn't get to play because everyone wants a 33 year old goon to play instead of him?

Chicago will run with young guys and there players develop faster, no doubt about it

They were still considerably young and they were homegrown talent.

Exactly. There is nothing inherently better about a 20 year old rookie than a 22 year old rookie.

We have a good crop of young forwards on the cusp right now. Chicago's were ready last year. Next year, Chicago won't have them and we will. Does that mean that our system is automatically better? Ridiculous thought.
