Damn, sad news to see this morning. Pretty well grew up with the guy always being on TSN, seemed like a great dude, RIP Dutchy.

Remember him back in his ITV days in Edmonton was one of the first sports guys I watched growing up.

Same here. I moved to Edmonton and when I saw him on ITV I said to my GF that he was too good to stay on the local TV, he was going places. I loved listening and watching him, so much fun and so much sports knowledge. It’s a sad day.

Dutchy was a f***ing legend. Growing up watching him I always loved his broadcast style first and foremost and have heard tons of stories of his genuineness and kindness off the camera.

The world lost an amazing one. Rest in Power Dutch

Sad news. He was a staple of hockey commentary for me growing up.

This is very sad. I felt like I knew him, having watched him for so many years on the sports desk. He was always entertaining, but I never felt like he made it about himself. One of the best to ever do that job, IMO. A year younger than me. Way too young.

As a kid I remember watching him on ITV's Sportsnight in his early years. Always liked him. One of the funnier things I remember was as a teen I was watching highlights....Rangers vs Islanders. They go to OT. He wraps it up with "And New York comes up with the win!" LOL

Knew what he meant cause of the video, but it was funny.

He had cancer treatment a couple years back but there was cancer still all throughout his body.

He made the decision to just keep working even though he knew he was expiring. Legend.
