Nurse would have to be the freebie in any deal sending him out.Yes but taking him for free would be dumb.

He is, one of a kind overpaid contracts for a defenceman in today’s NHL.Edmonton is just not tenable for Nurse anymore. but he is still a one of a kind player in today's NHL
What if we retained 50%? Would def need compensation at that point but it's only for one year.
"The entire contract'san jose seems like a perfect spot for nurse. they have enough cap to take his entire contract and orlov is their only non-elc defenseman under contract for next season. sharks have been drafting well, may have more forward prospects than spots for them. maybe something around graf?
He always reminded me of a flawed d-man like post leg injuries Ekblad. Both are overpayed, and Nurse can skate better at this point, but he doesn't fight as hard in puck battles and, at this point, his coaches don't realize his weaknesses. The more I think about it, the more I think he COULD MAYBE benefit from a more structured team that doesn’t force the play through certain players. A Vegas/Florida type environment where everyone is engaged
"Bottom four d-man"? Let's be honest about it, Nurse is clearly a 2nd pair guy. He's no more a bottom pair defenseman than he is a top pair defenseman."The entire contract'
And you want Graf? LoL
My friend, to get anyone to eat that contract of a bottom 4 dman at 9.5m , you attach a sweetener and have nothing of value coming back.
Nobody takes the worst contract in the NHL at full value AND sends an asset for it.
Edmonton has to pay up to move it. Think "Edmonton attaches a 1st to dump Nurse" and you have a better idea of his non value
There is a reason TSN broadcasters are joking that there are cricket emojis in Bowman 's inbox
Graves at 50% retained is still a negative asset. He's a #7 defenseman at best. If you want him to be the cap balancer in return for Nurse, that's okay I guess, but you're giving up a value on top of him. What if we retained 50%? Would def need compensation at that point but it's only for one year.
Ekholm is 36, but he was still good last year. Just a little slower. Time isn't on his side, but unless he falls apart, he's okay in the top 4 for another year.Ekholm is 36, Walman isn't very good, and they were both already on the team in addition to Nurse last year.

Nurse+Savoie for Graf, no retention. Otherwise the Sharks will simply re-sign Ferraro and possibly look at Troubasan jose seems like a perfect spot for nurse. they have enough cap to take his entire contract and orlov is their only non-elc defenseman under contract for next season. sharks have been drafting well, may have more forward prospects than spots for them. maybe something around graf?

King's have plenty of cap to work with.Holland doesn’t have enough cap space to engage in a bidding war. LA is not a realistic destination. Unless it starts with the Oilers retaining $3M and taking the incredible Cody Ceci back. Then the Oilers would probably still have to add something. Otherwise, Anaheim has $38M in cap space, he would be GREAT there.
Lol. Who the hell is he to demand a trade? That contract is untradable.
nurse is overpaid, but is still a 2nd pairing guy has a history of chipping in offensively. he has 4 years left and can provide some roster stability while they build a new defense. just seems better than the patchwork of leddy/orlov/klingberg or rushing prospects. sharks also have a few other contracts & buyouts expiring with orlov next summer."The entire contract'

they have 40 million in cap, a handful of defenders on elc deals & it might be up to ferraro to stay. ferraro might be a guy that pairs well with nurse.Nurse+Savoie for Graf, no retention. Otherwise the Sharks will simply re-sign Ferraro and possibly look at Trouba
nurse wouldn't be a burden in san jose, he'd be an upgrade. sharks have 11 forwards signed for next year. they have lund & bystedt in ahl with 1 year of waiver eligibility. they have the #2 pick in the draft. they have more top 40 picks losing eligibility the following 2 seasons. You aren't getting a useful young top 9 forward to get rid of a burden contract.
Graf isn't going anywhere. He's the smartest player on the team not named Macklin Celebrini.nurse is overpaid, but is still a 2nd pairing guy has a history of chipping in offensively. he has 4 years left and can provide some roster stability while they build a new defense. just seems better than the patchwork of leddy/orlov/klingberg or rushing prospects. sharks also have a few other contracts & buyouts expiring with orlov next summer.

used graf because he is an rfa and the sharks have been drafting forwards in the first round for 5 years & may be drafting another one 2nd overall. savoie was traded out of a similar situation in buffalo, they had more forward prospects than spots to play them.
sharks already have graf replacement options on elc deals, they have veteran forwards that have been a framework to build around. nurse can be the toffoli/goodrow of the defense rebuild. especially if they keep ferraro.

i don't care if its graf or one the 5 other guys on an elc deal, just being pragmatic by using the guy in a contract year without the waiver pass; the year before the sharks have another 20 million come off the books.
okay.Graf isn't going anywhere. He's the smartest player on the team not named Macklin Celebrini.
He's an upgrade on nothing, but that doesn't mean that I want to spend quality assets on a stopgap. The Sharks aren't trying to force a window open at this point. They can find marginal upgrades for much cheaper and for much less cap space for the time being, until they're able to acquire an actual top pairing.okay.
as a sharks fan, do you think nurse would be a good addition to the defense?
